Indiana Jones 5 is currently gearing up to start filming, and the poster artist who defined the franchise has taken to social media to celebrate. The Indiana Jones franchise has been one of the most iconic and beloved film series since the release of Raiders of the Lost Ark 40 years ago, and many are anticipating the next chapter, which will see James Mangold at the helm. The franchise is adding new faces with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, and Thomas Kretschmann.

Drew Struzan is one of the most prolific poster designers in the world, creating iconic posters for Blade Runner, Back to the Future, and The Thing to name a few. He is famous for his collaboration with Spielberg and Lucas in the '80s and 90's, as Struzan did the posters for the Star Wars trilogy special edition re-release in 1997 and did all of the prequel films. His work might be most commonly associated with Indiana Jones as he designed the poster for the foreign release of Raiders of the Lost Ark and since then did the main posters for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

With filming of Indiana Jones 5 about to begin, Struzan took to Twitter to celebrate the film. He said Indy is in good hands with Mangold and wished the best to the cast and crew. Struzan reminded them to have fun and seemed to tease fans about what lies ahead.

During the 1990s as computers and digital manipulation to images became more popular, Struzan's saw a decline in work from movie posters but still made posters for iconic films like Hellboy and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Struzan retired in September 2008, shortly after the release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Yet he did come out of retirement twice to design posters for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015 and the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy in 2019.

Indiana Jones 5 will mark the first time that Steven Spielberg hasn't directed an Indiana Jones film. With Harrison Ford returning for what is dubbed the final Indiana Jones adventure, one can only hope Struzan will return to the franchise to design the poster to keep a sense of tradition and continuity. After all, Struzan's artwork is as key to the Indiana Jones franchise as Harrison Ford's performance and John William's music.
