The sequel to Independence Day will debut next year, 20 years after the release of the first film. Some of the cast and crew from the original are returning, including Roland Emmerich, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, and Vivica A. Fox, but we'll also see newcomers like Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) and Maika Monroe (It Follows). Recently, the producers of the film announced the title for the sequel - Independence Day: Resurgence - which was released alongside set images and a video featuring the animated logo from the film.

But what about a trailer? According to reports, a teaser premiered on the Fourth of July (a.k.a. Independence Day) with Terminator: Genisys prints. Additionally, the cast and crew of the film have posted teases for IDR on their Instagram and Twitter accounts.

According to AICN and /Film, the teaser trailer - which was around 35 seconds long - was only available on Saturday and won't be shown with Genisys prints going forward. That said, it's not clear at this point if there was any actual footage from the film in the teaser, so don't feel too bad if you didn't get a chance to see it.

Still, if you're disappointed that you missed the teaser, there's good news - director Roland Emmerich, star Jeff Goldbum, and the official Independence Day Twitter account released their own new teases for the film. Check them out below:

As was the case with the premiere of the logo animation, there's not actual footage from the film in any of the above teases. Their purpose seems merely to excite fans who are really looking forward to the sequel. Whether or not we'll see significant footage from the film any time soon remains to be seen. Since Resurgence is still filming - and it's an effects-heavy film to begin with - a full trailer might still be a ways off.

While director Roland Emmerich may have gotten himself into some creative trouble over the course of his career (see 1998's Godzilla or 2008's 10,000 B.C., among other films), a return to the film property that made him a major player in Hollywood could be a boon for the aging industry stalwart. And if nothing else, it will be nice to see Jeff Goldblum in something other than Portlandia.

Independence Day: Resurgence will be released in theaters on June 24th, 2016.
