Pixar's The Incredibles franchise is largely focused on the Parr family, but Lucius Best aka Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) is one of the main supporting characters who has an interesting origin. A longtime friend to Bob Parr aka Mr. Incredible and fellow super, Frozone appeared in both The Incredibles and Incredibles 2. He's become a fan-favorite character in his limited screen-time, which may leave viewers wanting more information on Lucius.

Through small clues and DVD extras, some details about Frozone's origin and early days as a super have been revealed. Going all the way back, Lucius first discovered his ice powers when he was nearly two years old. The revelation of these powers came as a surprise, and sometime after this he first suited up in the white and crystal blue suit and became Frozone.

Once he started his heroic duties, Frozone came to learn that he was not the only one with powers. It was during this time that he first met Mr. Incredible. The two of them would work together several times throughout the years, but they never officially formed a super-team or partnership. One of the adventures they fondly remember is with Baron von Ruthless and his "death ray", where Ruthless began a monologue to them.

Instead of partnering up with Mr. Incredible in an official sense, Frozone's main partner was the super Blazestone. They not only worked together but also became romantically involved, with their ice and heat-related powers proving that opposites do attract. However, this relationship and partnership did not last, as a love-triangle soon formed as he and Downburst competed for Blazestone's affection. With Blazestone out of the picture, Lucius eventually met Honey, who would later become his wife. Although Honey has never appeared on-screen, Pixar did design her look; Honey concept art has even been released online.

Frozone became quite recognizable during the Golden Age of superheroes. He was chosen to co-star in an unproduced pilot for the animated series Mr. Incredible and Pals. The DVD for The Incredibles includes the pilot and commentary track by Lucius and Bob. In the commentary, Lucius expresses his displeasure with how the series turned out - especially because it looks as though he was whitewashed. But, Frozone also tried to capitalize on his notoriety by attempting to participate in the Winter Olympics, which he was not allowed to do.

After the Golden Age and ban on supers, Lucius' day-to-day life has not been explored. He continued to meet secretly with Bob to perform heroic acts but wasn't pulled back into the superhero game until Syndrome attacks Metroville. Frozone helped take him and his giant robot down and returned to combat the Underminer's attack. He also then helped stop the Screenslaver's plot and prevent her boat from crashing into the city. Considering the success that The Incredibles franchise has experienced, there's always the chance we'll get more of his story in another movie.
