Pixar has made a number of sequels, and now the long awaited The Incredibles II has taken its next step forward thanks to composer Michael GiacchinoThe Incredibles is one of the most beloved films in Pixar's animation catalog - and that's saying something based on their track record - but the sequel has taken much longer to materialize than expected. Even now as it moves up to a 2018 release, it comes after franchises like Cars saw multiple films.

On the bright side however, the sequel will bring back many of the individuals responsible for making the first so successful. Brad Bird is returning to direct for instance, and Samuel L. Jackson has begun recording Frozone's return. One of the other members returning is Giacchino, and he's officially started working on the score.

Giacchino confirmed that his work on the sequel is underway by posting a photo on Twitter from the Pixar offices. He is not alone in the photo as Bird joins him. Bird and Giacchino will surely be working closely together to craft the sound of the sequel, but should also have a general understanding of where it will go after working together on the first movie, as well as Bird's other directorial credit Tomorrowland.

For the first film, Giacchino was able to craft a fun and upbeat theme for Pixar's super family. With him returning as previously announced, the same theme or a slight variation of it should be included in Incredibles II. Now, this could depend largely on the overall tone and story of the sequel. Bird has stated before how this sequel will take the family in a new direction, so fans of the first should not expect to see the familiar faces in the exact same light this time around.

The start on Incredibles II continues Giacchino's crazy busy schedule as he continues to build his credits. Most recently, he's served as the composer on Rogue One: A Star Wars StoryStar Trek Beyond, and Doctor Strange. Other projects on his upcoming slate include War for the Planet of the ApesSpider-Man: Homecoming, and Jurassic World 2.

When it comes to Pixar specifically however, Incredibles II will mark Giacchino's sixth venture with the animated studio. He has also previously served as the composer on RatatouilleUpCars 2, and Inside Out. Clearly he has a strong connection with the studio and continues to be one of Hollywood's most prominent composers. Hopefully, he is able to help recapture the magic for Incredibles II by creating a memorable score.
