A new trailer for The Incredibles 2 sports a 2018 Winter Olympics theme while putting the focus on super-powered baby Jack-Jack. The trailer depicts Jack-Jack enjoying some time on the ice before he has a close encounter with a curling stone.
The long-awaited sequel to the original 2004 Disney/Pixar film about a super-powered family that is forced to hide their powers from the world, The Incredibles 2 is one of the most highly anticipated films of 2018 and quite probably the most eagerly anticipated family film of the year. Details about the upcoming movie have been few and far between, with the only hint of the film's plot being that it will be set immediately after the events of the original Incredibles and that the action of the film will focus more on Elastigirl (Holly Hunter), who will reenter the work-force as her husband Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) focuses on caring for their children Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dash (Huck Milner) and Jack-Jack.
The ten second teaser trailer was posted to the official Incredibles Twitter account and is visible below. In addition to the trailer, the posting confirms earlier reports that a full look at the film will be coming sometime on Wednesday, February 14th, during the television broadcast of the 2018 Winter Olympics.
A trailer with more details about the movie will prove a welcome relief to fans of the original Incredibles film, who are growing increasingly antsy as the film's release date approaches. The film has yet to see a full trailer, with marketing to date consisting of a brief teaser trailer and some posters. This can most likely be attributed to the extensive animation process taking a long time to complete, meaning the studio is waiting until the footage is finished before showing it to the public. Pixar is obviously planning something special for this week, so there's nothing to worry about.
The teaser trailer, which is the most-viewed animated trailer ever, proved amusing. Additionally, with the film's original core cast returning, including Samuel L. Jackson as the ice-manipulating Frozone and Brad Bird as superhero fashion designer Edna Mode, the production team seems poised to recapture the old magic and present audiences everywhere with another inspiring family-friendly superhero saga. That might not be quite as unique was it was back in 2004, when superhero movies were far less common, but that's unlikely to mater to those fans hoping to see something Incredible this summer.
