the incredibles family pose

As Pixar prepares to suit up once again with The Incredibles 2, the already all-star cast has some new Hollywood company from Catherine Keener and Bob Odenkirk.

Starring voice talent like Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, and Samuel L. Jackson, The Incredibles 2 is the long-awaited sequel to Brad Bird's 20o4 movie. With the Parr family finally returning to the big screen, it looks like there will be a new batch of heroes and villains for them to share the screen with.

According to Tracking Board, Keener an Odenkirk have been cast in as-yet unspecified roles in the Incredibles sequel. Could they be two of the 25 new heroes set to join the party during Incredibles 2? Thankfully, with a trailer just around the corner, fans won't have long to wait until they find out who the pair are playing. Given that Bird's original film introduced fan-favorite characters like Frozone and Edna Mode - two players who will also return in the sequel - it remains to be seen if Keener and Odenkirk can continue the franchise's theme of superb talent and memorable character work.

With Emmys and various other awards under their belts, Keener is known for the likes of Being John Malkovich and Capote, while Odenkirk enjoyed a career boost thanks to his prominent role in Breaking Bad. More recently, both stars have had a particularly successful year. Apart from Odenkirk's lead role in Better Call Saul, he is already in talks for an Oscar nomination thanks to a supporting role in Steven Spielberg's The Post, and Keener's part as Missy Armitage in Jordan Peele's meta horror Get Out puts her in a similar position.

While the plot of The Incredibles 2 is still being kept under wraps, the story will start off by picking up from the cliffhanger ending of the original movie (with John Ratzenberger as the Underminer on the attack). If you recall, the Parrs were face-to-face with the pun-heavy villain, just before the end credits started rolling.

It has been confirmed that Incredibles 2 focuses more on the adventures of Hunter's Elastagirl, as Nelson's Mr. Incredible will be left looking after the kids. Also expected to have an expanded role, Bird might finally unveil the real powers of younger Parr member Jack-Jack. It is unclear how big either Keener of Odenkirk's roles will be, but as two pretty big names, it will surely be more than just a small cameo. Heading for a Summer 2018 theatrical release, The Incredibles 2 hopes to live up to the hype of its predecessor. Just remember, no capes!
