Unlike Henry Cavill and the rest of the cast of Immortals, I don't have the body of a Greek god, which is why I both love and hate these cool new character posters from Tarsem Singh's upcoming war epic.
Immortals has already drawn favorable (and unfavorable) comparisons to both 300 and Clash of the Titans for its stylish depiction of ancient Greek combat, and this new set of character posters do nothing to distinguish the film. Still, they sure do look good, and at this stage in the game, that's really all that matters.
If you're unfamiliar with Immortals, check out the first trailer for the movie. Afterward, check out the posters and the official synopsis below.
The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his murderous Heraklion army are rampaging across Greece in search of the long lost Bow of Epirus. With the invincible Bow, the king will be able to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world. With ruthless efficiency, Hyperion and his legions destroy everything in their wake, and it seems nothing will stop the evil king’s mission.
As village after village is obliterated, a stonemason named Theseus (Henry Cavill) vows to avenge the death of his mother in one of Hyperion’s raids. When Theseus meets the Sybelline Oracle, Phaedra (Freida Pinto), her disturbing visions of the young man’s future convince her that he is the key to stopping the destruction. With her help, Theseus assembles a small band of followers and embraces his destiny in a final desperate battle for the future of humanity.
From the top left poster going clockwise, the characters are Zeus, Theseus, Stavros, Poseidon, Phaedra, Hyperion, Athena, and Aries. I especially like the poster of Hyperion. Nothing says bad-ass warrior like a spiky face mask.

Of all the actors in Immortals, I'm most interested in seeing Mickey Rourke as Hyperion. Since Rourke's fantastic comeback in The Wrestler, the actor has taken on a wide range of large-scale projects, and it would be great to see him continue his comeback in style.
I'm also very interested in seeing how Henry Cavill fairs in a leading action role. For the most part, film fans are unfamiliar with the actor's pedigree. Immortals will be a great way for people to see whether or not the British thespian's skills can translate to the high-profile role of Superman in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel.
What do you think of these character posters, and which Greek god are you most excited to see on the big screen in Immortals? The film hits theaters on the numerically ominous date of 11-11-11.
