The Hulk that most people know and love is big and green and goes by the name Bruce Banner when he's not Hulking out. However, that Hulk isn't the first character to grace that name. The first Hulk was a character named Xemnu - and he's back to cause some havoc for the Green Goliath.

Xemnu the Living Titan first appeared in Journey into Mystery #62 (1960) by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The cover of that issue infamously featured Xemnu with the caption "here comes the Hulk." The psychic alien's first appearance predates the green Hulk's first time showing up in the pages of Marvel Comics. Xemnu is technically the original Hulk and has since reappeared as a recurring villain in past Hulk-related stories, using his psychic powers to control weaker-minded people.

The Hulk has dealt with a number of recent threats in the pages of Immortal Hulk. Roxxon CEO Dario Agger released Lovecraftian-esque monsters in an effort to frame the Hulk. The most surprising monster was revealed at the end of Immortal Hulk #30 as Xemnu appears out of nowhere to reveal "I've come to save you." The furry Yeti-looking monster is the latest tactic to make the Hulk look more and more like the bad guy.

Xemnu Fights Hulk

Xemnu's hilarious introduction includes him proclaiming his popularity to boys and girls after starring in a Saturday morning TV show. With his hypnotic eyes spinning, Xemnu urges those watching to remember "before the job and the family you hate, before everything got so hard." The Hulk is having none of Xemnu's dramatic performance and immediately grabs him by the neck. As if he was performing a drama on the stage, the old Hulk monologues to the audience asking them "remember how soda used to taste?" as he says the Hulk is hurting him.

"Oh dear. Oh dear. He's going to kill me. Do you remember your first love?" as Xemnu tries to appeal and manipulate the audience watching back at home. The fight ends after a mech suit driven by Crusher Creel crashes into the Hulk. He is translocated back to Doctor McGowan. McGowan stresses that the Hulk's rage towards Xemnu isn't helping as people are starting to turn against him. It's clear Xemnu's and Roxxon's charade is working while Hulk's anger isn't. Xemnu and Roxxon are making the Hulk out to be the bad guy. Will their PR spin prove successful? Or can the Hulk stop the original Hulk before things get too out of hand? What happens with Xemnu and Hulk next is going to be fascinating.
