Warning! Spoilers for Immortal Hulk #46 by Marvel Comics below.

The Avengers are coming after the Hulk. The Jade Giant just faced off against a group of powerful villains, who were hired to take him down again after he returned to full strength (and then some) following his death. But, when the Avengers are called to deal with the ensuing chaos caused by the Hulk's massive battle in New Jersey, they tell him they can't let his rage go unchecked, setting up a battle between the former allies.

In the current The Immortal Hulk series, the group known as the U-Foes were assembled by Gamma Flight in order to take down the Hulk for good. The group, hired by government agent Henry Gyrich, actually accomplished their goal and killed the Hulk as was in a weakened state. But, after the Hulk managed to break out of the Below-Place, he came back stronger than ever with a power upgrade courtesy of the Red Hulk. Back in New Jersey, Hulk was eager to get revenge.

In Immortal Hulk #46 by Al Ewing, Joe Bennett, Ruy Jose, Belardino Brabo, Paul Mounts, Cory Petit, and Alex Ross, the Hulk returns to the mortal plane and takes on the U-Foes. In the fight between the superpowered monsters, Hulk causes some serious damage, leaving the U-Foes injured before getting knocked away from them. In a last-ditch effort to stop the Hulk, Gyrich calls in the Avengers. As Hulk tries to grab a celebratory drink for returning back to life, he's confronted by his former teammates.

Hulk Facing Avengers

Thor arrives first, smashing the Hulk with Mjolnir. When the God of Thunder tells him he's going to break him and make him bow in mercy, the Hulk delivers a massive punch that levels the hero through the bar's window. When he goes after Thor, he finds the entire Avengers squad waiting for him. Black Panther tells him they can't let his chaos go unchecked. As they prepare to fight, Hulk's mutated wife, the Red Harpy, arrives on the scene to help.

The Avengers don't know that Gyrich is evil and called them to take down the Hulk in the first place as a failsafe, but that isn't going to stop the gamma monster from fighting his former friends. With the Red Harpy now by his side, his next battle against the Avengers is likely going to be explosive, as the Hulk won't hold back against his former teammates - since this time, he didn't start the fight with them. Immortal Hulk #46 is in stores now.
