The first trailer for Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild teases a new prehistoric adventure. Ice Age is the animated franchise that has spawned five movies thus far, as well as a number of shorts and specials, and features a varied cast of characters that have dipped in and out ever since it debuted. The main characters of Manny (Ray Romano), Sid (John Leguizamo), Diego (Denis Leary), and Scrat (Chris Wedge), have appeared in all of the Ice Age films, with Ellie (Queen Latifah) being in four of them. Crash (Seann William Scott) and Eddie (Josh Peck) have appeared in the series since their debut in Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Disney shut down Blue Sky Studios when it acquired 20th Century Fox, but it appears that hasn't stopped the Ice Age from happening... again.

A trove of big-name actors and talent have guest-starred in the series, including Jennifer Lopez, Wanda Sykes, Keke Palmer, Jack Black, Alan Tudyk, Josh Gad, Will Arnett, Peter Dinklage, and many, many more. Simon Pegg starred as Buck in Dawn of the Dinosaurs, making for one of the more popular characters in the series. However, he did not return for the follow-up, Ice Age: Continental Drift. He was back for the last outing, Ice Age: Collision Course.

Now, Buck is back again, this time headlining his own adventure with The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild. The trailer for the film was released via Disney for Disney+ Day. The original film will debut on the streamer in 2022. Pegg once again voices the fan-favorite Buck, and the film will also see the return of Manny, Ellie, Sid, and Diego, as well as Crash and Eddie, who appear to be the catalyst for this little adventure when they venture back to the Lost World. The feature-length film will debut on the streamer on January 28th, 2022. Check out the trailer below:

Pegg has had a busy career in Hollywood in the last few decades, emerging in the US with Edgar Wright's Shaun of the Dead (as well as the rest of the Cornetto Trilogy) and picking up roles in a number of high-profile projects along the way. Pegg took on the role of Scotty in the new Star Trek film series and has lent his voice to a number of animated projects outside of Ice Age, including Phineas and Ferb, The Boxtrolls, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Archer, and more. Pegg is also a main supporting character, Benji, in the Mission: Impossible franchise, which sees the 7th film in the series released next year.

The Ice Age series has been a fun one for kids and adults alike, which isn't always the case (particularly for adults) and Buck is definitely one of the reasons for that. However, the main cast is also a charming group to return to, as their journey (and families) have grown with each new film, making it feel like a franchise that could pass from generation to generation. If nothing else, just watching the misadventures of Scrat, the acorn-seeking squirrel, make for some hilarious interludes from film to film and that can be enough for some to return to the series.
