The first trailer for Paramount+'s iCarly reboot brings the gang back together and kicks off the latest iteration of the fictional webseries. Premiering on Nickelodeon in 2007, iCarly starred Miranda Cosgrove as the titular teenager who starts her own web show with the help of her two best friends Freddie (Nathan Kress) and Sam (Jennette McCurdy). That quirky little series becomes an overnight sensation, turning Carly, Sam, and Freddie into viral stars. Throughout its six-season run, iCarly was a bona fide hit on Nickelodeon, which is why it's no surprise that Paramount+ is bringing it back now.

The iCarly reboot was officially announced to be in development last December, with production kicking off earlier this year. Both Cosgrove and Kress are set to return, along with Jerry Trainor as Carly's immature but lovable older brother Spencer. McCurdy, who has retired from acting, will not appear. Newcomers to the iCarly universe include Laci Mosley as Harper, Carly's roommate, and Jaidyn Triplett as Millicent, Freddie's stepdaughter. The new series will find Carly and Freddie reviving iCarly along with Spencer's help as they continue to navigate the trials and tribulations of being in their 20s.

On Tuesday, just a few weeks before the series premieres, Paramount+ unveiled the first trailer for iCarly. After revisiting how the original show ended in 2012, the trailer introduces fans to, as Carly puts it, "the new iCarly." Though everyone might be grown up now, there are still plenty of the familiar hijinks everyone has come to expect from the offbeat sitcom. Check it out below.

With the classic theme song blaring, the trailer for the new iCarly makes it feel like the show never really left. The basics of the web show remain intact, but the characters themselves have certainly evolved. There are little hints throughout the trailer to indicate iCarly's new home of Paramount+ is allowing the show to grow with its audience, from Spencer swearing (in a relatively tame way, but still) to characters drinking. It would be silly to keep iCarly as wholly a kids' show when its main characters are adults, so it's nice to see there's a slightly more mature tone here. That was the issue that befell the shelved Lizzie McGuire revival, so at least iCarly has sidestepped that.

Overall, though, the core of iCarly remains as silly and energetic as always. The sight of familiar recurring characters like Mrs. Benson (Mary Scheer) and Nevel Papperman (Reed Alexander) evokes even more feelings of nostalgia, and there's truly nothing like seeing Cosgrove welcome viewers back to iCarly. It all begins on Paramount+ later this month.
