Paramount+'s iCarly revival will debut sometime in June. The series originally aired on Nickelodeon from 2007-2012. It starred Miranda Cosgrove as Carly Shay, the host of a web show she created with her friends Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) and Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress). iCarly also focused on their antics with Carly's older brother Spencer Shay (Jerry Trainor) and friend Gibby (Noah Munck). The show was a steady performer for Nickelodeon throughout its run. Alongside series like Zoey 101 and Victorious, it helped the network in its competition with Disney Channel for many of the same viewers.

The iCarly revival was announced in December 2020, with Cosgrove, Kress, and Trainor all set to reprise their roles. In January, Cosgrove shared an image of the three reuniting, though production didn't officially begin until March. As of now, Cosgrove, Kress, and Trainor are the only three original actors confirmed to appear in the 13-episode revival season. McCurdy has since quit acting, calling her past roles "embarrassing." However, Laci Mosley has joined the cast as Harper, Carly's roommate and best friend. Jaidyn Triplett will play Millicent, Freddie's stepdaughter.

Now, TheWrap reports the iCarly revival will premiere in June. No specific release date is known at this time, but the news was announced by ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish during an earnings call. This update comes after the iCarly revival was previously said to be eyeing a summer release date.

Featured iCarly Revival Summer Premiere

Since summer 2021 is a pretty broad window, it's nice to hear the iCarly revival will be here so soon. With CBS All Access only recently rebranding as Paramount+ in March, ViacomCBS is likely hoping to draw attention to the streaming service with the launch of iCarly soon after. It could prove to be an effective strategy. Nostalgia is a big factor right now in the world of TV, with reboots and revivals becoming a dime a dozen. However, not all have been successful, and it will be interesting to see if the iCarly revival can effectively bring in both new viewers and those who watched the show when it first aired.

It helps that iCarly's original audience is now old enough to have streaming subscriptions of their own, along with kids who may enjoy the new season. The potential for family viewing is an especially powerful draw these days, with many still limiting their time away from home. That could make a big difference with the iCarly revival. However, it won't be clear if that's enough to make the show a success until it releases in June.
