The final season of iCarly featured an interesting cameo from an unexpected actress–Emma Stone. iCarly, the Nickelodeon teen sitcom that ran for six seasons from 2007 to 2012 before getting a 2021 reboot on Paramount+, focused on the adventures of Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove), Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress), and Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) as they balance their normal teen lives with the fame that comes from creating a popular web show. Throughout the show, they encounter a colorful cast of characters, including the role that Emma Stone played in one episode.

During its five-year run, iCarly enjoyed a high level of popularity, with one episode, "iSaved Your Life," reaching 11.2 million viewers, the second-most-watched Nickelodeon broadcast in history. iCarly's success even led to two television movies (iGo To Japan and iParty With Victorious) as well as a spin-off, Sam & Cat, that co-starred Ariana Grande. The original iCarly show was also known for its roster of notable guest stars, including Austin Butler, the boy band One Direction, Jane Lynch, Taran Killam, and even former First Lady Michelle Obama. A few performers guest-starred on iCarly either before their careers started taking off or during the height of their popularity, and Emma Stone, already known at that point for films like Easy A, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Crazy, Stupid, Love, falls into the latter category.

Emma Stone makes a cameo in iCarly season 6, episode 9 "iFind Spencer Friends." In the episode, Carly, Sam, Freddie, and Gibby (Noah Munck) decide that iCarly's Spencer (Jerry Trainor), Carly's older brother and guardian, should try to find some friends his own age. Spencer has dinner with the new friends the gang manages to find for him. He ends up not liking them because he has nothing in common with them, while they dislike Spencer because they find him childish. While eating at a diner, the iCarly crew encounters Heather, played by Emma Stone, who is an iCarly superfan. Heather promptly freaks out after meeting Carly and friends, until she's dragged away by two diner employees.

Why Emma Stone Appeared In iCarly Season 6

Emma Stone's cameo also has an interesting story behind it. During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno  (via OK!), Stone explains that her cameo came about after meeting Dan Schneider and the iCarly cast at a Saturday Night Live afterparty. Stone told Schneider that she was a big fan of iCarly and he invited her to do a small part in the show. It seems like Emma Stone's cameo as Heather was inspired by her real-life fandom, though she probably wasn't as much of a fanatic as her character.

Stone's cameo appearance is bizarre but also very hilarious. Ever since her film debut in the teen comedy Superbad, Emma Stone has been known for her comedic talent, which is put on display in her iCarly guest role. Stone is great in the role of Heather, making hilarious facial expressions and giving line readings that are over-the-top in a very entertaining way. Emma Stone's iCarly cameo is even better because she was already previously a fan of the show. The iCarly reboot has brought back iconic characters from the original series such as Nevel and Nora, so Emma Stone's Heather making would be fun. However, Stone is a highly in-demand actress who has a sequel to Cruella in the works as well as The Curse, a half-hour Showtime comedy, so her availability might be in question. It would still be great to revisit Emma Stone's wonderfully strange iCarly cameo in the future.
