In the new rom-com I Want You Back, Charlie Day and Jenny Slate play two newly-singles who can't get over their exes - even though their exes are now happily with other people. The pair decides to conspire together to sabotage these new relationships in an effort to get their exes back. Arriving on Amazon Prime just in time for Valentine's Day, the film promises to deliver plenty of laughs.

Screen Rant had an opportunity to talk with Day and Slate about what people should do after a breakup, their favorite rom-com couples, and much more.

I want to hear Jenny and Charlie's guide to getting through a breakup. Let's pretend I get dumped. What are the first few things that I should do? How do I get through it?

Charlie Day: You gotta focus on you.

Jenny Slate: That's right. That's Right.

Charlie Day: We got to start taking care of you, alright? You got a bath? Take a nice hot bath. You know what I mean? Get some Epsom salts in there.

Jenny Slate: That's right. Have some wine, but don't become an alcoholic.

Charlie Day: Yeah, go ahead and let loose. Do you have friends? You got to get together with friends.

Jenny Slate: Move-in with a friend.

Charlie Day: Yeah, maybe or just do some socializing. Get back out there. Don't run into another relationship. Don't race right in.

Jenny Slate: Get off your phone.

Charlie Day: Yeah.

Jenny Slate: Get the heck off your phone! Get off social media.

Charlie Day: Get off the phone. Get out of bed. Get out of the house. Let's go. Let's go be in the world.

Jenny Slate: Head into nature. Walk around.

Charlie Day: Go on a vacation!

Jenny Slate: Yeah. But don't walk into the sea. You know what I mean?

Okay, I was thinking that. I was thinking that.

Charlie Day: Allow yourself your sadness. Feel your sadness and let it move through you.

Thank you, guys. I think I'm going to get through this fictional breakup just fine.

What do you think would happen if Charlie Kelly and Mona Lisa Sapperstein started dating? Would we want to stop that?

Charlie Day: That could be a good fit?

Jenny Slate: It could end up exploding itself.

Charlie Day: Yeah, but then that's universes colliding and just chaos could happen.

Well, Jenny, I have to point out you singing Little Shop of Horrors' "Suddenly Seymour." It was immaculate. I loved it. Do you have a Little Shop of Horrors connection? You're so good!

Jenny Slate: Oh, that's so nice of you to say. I loved the movie very much when I was a kid and I was in a production of it at Camp Tapawingo in Sweden, Maine in the 90s. I was in the chorus, did not have a lead. So this was a real in-your-face-type moment for that counselor who gave me a small part.

This is a great addition to the rom-com repertoire. Who is your favorite rom-com couple of all time?

Jenny Slate: We're a Hanks and Ryan.

Charlie Day: Yeah, I love that Hanks and Ryan team up. I mean, you got You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle...

Jenny Slate: Joe Versus the Volcano

Charlie Day: It's amazing. There's another one?

Jenny Slate: There's another one. There's something we're missing.

Well just based off the movie and the vibes in this interview, I would like a Hanks/Ryan type thing with Jenny and Charlie. Could you guys do more rom coms together, please?

Charlie Day: Can you make that happen? Can you call the right people?

I think I can.

Charlie Day: Let's go.

Charlie, I want to ask you because something that really dominated the conversation for an entire day was the Mario casting and I'm so excited for you. Have you done any recording yet? Have you decided on your Luigi approach?

Charlie Day:  Yeah, I've done a bunch of recording. Although, I was talking about this last night on Kimmel, I know so little about the movie because it's like the Marvel Universe. They released to me the very specific lines and they call me in and say, "Say Mario 7000 different ways and then we'll pick which one we want." So I know almost nothing.

So very secretive Mario movie. That's interesting.

Charlie Day: I'm not in the inner circle of the Nintendo World.

Well, thank you guys so much. The movie is fantastic. So lovely talking to you both.
