It’s been over a decade since the movie was released, so what does the I Am Number Four cast look like now and which notable projects have they starred in? Directed by D.J. Caruso, I Am Number Four is a teen sci-fi action film based on the first book in the young adult novel series Lorien Legacies penned by Pittacus Lore (the pseudonym of writers James Frey and Jobie Hughes). The movie follows John Smith – one of nine teen aliens sent to planet Earth for their protection who are hunted down by a group of genocidal extra-terrestrials known as the Mogadorians.
Unfortunately, I Am Number Four underperformed when it hit theaters back in 2011 and didn’t fare well with critics either. The movie was supposed to kickstart a new YA franchise that would adapt further books from the Lorien Legacies series, but plans for an I Am Number Four sequel were soon shelved.
It might not have been a success, but that hasn’t held back I Am Number Four's cast in the years since. Here’s what they look like now and their biggest movies since.
Alex Pettyfer – John Smith/Number Four
British actor Alex Pettyfer got top billing in I Am Number Four as John. Following I Am Number Four, Pettyfer had roles in Magic Mike and The Butler and made his directorial debut with 2018's Back Roads which he also starred in. His more recent movies include Echo Boomers and Warning.
Timothy Olyphant – Henri
Justified star Olyphant played John’s guardian and surrogate father Henri. Since then, he’s had supporting roles in Snowden and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood but is probably better known for his TV career which includes Santa Clarita Diet, Fargo season 4 and Cobb Vanth in The Mandalorian and spin-off The Book Of Boba Fett.
Dianna Agron – Sarah Hart
Dianna Agron was best known for playing Quinn Fabray in Glee when she joined the I Am Number Four cast as John’s love interest Sarah. Over the past couple of years, Agron has received rave reviews for her performances in a trio of films – Kim Beckett in comedy Shiva Baby, poet Laura Riding in the biographical drama The Laureate and Abigail in Mayim Bialik’s directorial debut As They Made Us.
Callan McAuliffe – Sam Goode
Callan McAuliffe’s character Sam Goode is a conspiracy theorist and nerdy classmate who John befriends. The Australian actor played a young Jay Gatsby in Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby and has also starred in movies like Robot Overlords and Hacker. However, he’s best known for his TV role as zombie apocalypse survivor Alden in The Walking Dead.
Teresa Palmer – Number Six
Fellow Aussie actor Teresa Palmer played Number Six – one of the teen aliens being hunted by the Mogadorians. Palmer’s biggest movies since I Am Number Four include Lights Out, Hacksaw Ridge and Berlin Syndrome. She also had a starring role as Diana Bishop in the TV show A Discovery Of Witches.
Kevin Durand – Setrakus Ra
Durand rounded out the main I Am Number Four cast as Mogadorian commander and chief villain Setrakus Ra. Post-I Am Number Four, Durand has appeared in movies including Resident Evil: Retribution, The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones and Tragedy Girls. He boasts a consistent TV career too with parts in the horror shows Swamp Thing and The Strain and a recurring role on Vikings as the mysterious Harbard.
