New in-game footage of the FPS game I Am Jesus Christ has been revealed, highlighting new elements of the title's base gameplay. The game is inspired by the deeds and life of Jesus Christ, the central figure in the religion of Christianity. The setting takes place during the New Testament of the Bible. This means the simulation incorporates a wide range of events, beginning with Jesus' baptism all the way to his eventual resurrection after being crucified by the Romans. Players actually control Jesus Christ and perform some of the mythological figure's most popular and well-known miracles such as feeding the hungry, bringing the gift of vision to the blind and walking on water. The game also features a spiritual fight against the forces of Satan, although little has been revealed about that component so far.

The first-person experience is being developed by SimulaM, a small developer based in Poland, and being published by PlayWay. The game also provides players with the opportunity to explore ancient grounds and landscapes that make up modern-day Palestine and Israel which encircle the Sea of Galilee. The game does not have a clear release date as of yet. Steam shows it is due to release sometime this year. It has been in development for the past one year.

According to SimulaM, the developers have revealed new features that will be included in the game when it does eventually release. The video highlights an authentic new map, which will enable players to experience the open-world environment by exploring Biblical cities like Capernaum, Tiberia, Nazareth and others. The devlog also reveals more about main and side quests. Additionally, the devs addressed how players can expect to heal NPCs. This will be performed by successfully completing molecule control to eradicate the individual's disease. Other gameplay footage focuses on helping villagers catch fish for sustenance. This helps Jesus gain more followers and enhance his reputation, which is necessary to continue moving forward in the game.

The gameplay looks to be quite repetitive and it is not difficult to imagine players becoming uninterested in the monotonous tasks after a short while. On the other hand, it is entirely possible the game will fare well considering how eager gamers typically are for a new experience. Curiosity alone is often a strong driving force. For many, it would be an extremely unique experience to play as such an important religious figure. There seems to always be a strong desire for video game developers to create a new gaming experience by going into uncharted territory. I Am Jesus Christ certainly fits the description. This will be the latest entry in what is already a long list of strange video games on Steam.

It is not a stretch to suggest that this game runs the risk of being deeply offensive to Christians around the world. Any time a much revered holy figure is taken and depicted in a video game, it more often than not leads to controversy. As development for I Am Jesus Christ continues, it will be fascinating to see how the larger Christian community reacts when or if the game ever launches.
