Hyper Scape, the new battle royale game from Ubisoft, is finally launching its first season next month on August 11, 2020 – and is also apparently launching on PS4 and Xbox One on the same date. Hyper Scape has been in open beta on PC since July 12, 2020, which was announced as part of the Ubisoft Forward presentation.

Ubisoft initially unveiled Hyper Scape when its technical test phase started on July 2, 2020, allowing a number of Twitch streamers and YouTubers to try out and show off the game. The company also gave the public a chance to get into the technical test via Twitch drops, the same method Riot Games used when it launched the technical test for Valorant just a few months earlier. When the game entered its open beta on July 12, Ubisoft also introduced some new content for the game, such as new weapons, hacks, and a free battle pass.

Ubisoft announced the launch of Season 1 on the official Hyper Scape account on Twitter, as well as the Ubisoft website, along with a brand-new trailer. According to the announcement, Season 1 of Hyper Scape, dubbed “The First Principle,” will bring in new limited-time game modes, a new in-game Melee event, the new Dragonfly weapon, the Magnet hack, free and premium 100-tier battle passes, and even new features for its Crowncast Twitch extension.

With the announcement of Season 1, Ubisoft has also announced that the PC open beta will conclude on August 2, although the company has said that any items players have unlocked through either the in-game shop or the current 30-tier free battle pass will carry over to the console version of the game for those who decide to switch platforms once Season 1 begins. The company also added that interested potential console players can level up their battle pass before launch without having to play on PC by just watching Twitch streams with the Crowncast Twitch extension.

While the announcement of Hyper Scape coming to consoles is exciting, it was pretty much expected as its contemporaries such as Apex Legends and Fortnite are also available on both the PS4 and Xbox One. So, if Ubisoft wanted to truly compete with the big guns of the genre, it would make sense to release it on multiple platforms. However, with the open beta being limited to PC, it’s unknown just how well the game will run on either the PS4 or Xbox One. Gamers will just have to wait for Season 1 to see for themselves if Ubisoft is successful at bringing its new game to consoles.
