Finding the Hungladder Shard in Assassin's Creed Valhalla is part of the Crossover Stories DLC where Eivor encounters Kassandra from Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Players will need a total of five shards to enter the Cave of Gold, but the one located in Hungladder can be difficult to obtain. It's guarded by a large number of hostile enemies that will attack the moment they spot Eivor.
To obtain the Hungladder Shard, players will need to start the quest, "Counting Sheep," which is the third mission in the A Fated Encounter DLC. Eivor and Kassandra travel to the cave searching for an ancient artifact, but they are met with the challenge of finding five shards to unlock the way through the rest of the cave. Hungladder is a town in the northernmost part of the Isle of Skye, and the whole area is restricted. Players can choose to go in quietly or attempt to take on the various enemies there. The Isle of Skye has a Power Level 55 recommendation, so the enemies aren't too strong. However, there's a decent number of them, and players can be vulnerable if they are completing this quest with a low Power Level in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Regardless of the player's approach, they will still need to locate and make their way to the shard in Hungladder.
Finding and Using the Hungladder Shard in Assassin's Creed Valhalla
In order to complete the A Fated Encounter DLC in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, players will need to find the Hungladder Shard and safely escape the area with it. Going in loud will attract the attention of all the guards in the area, and players will need to fight them off before continuing their search. If players approach the shard stealthily, they won't have to kill every guard. Going toward the center, players can take out the few guards in their path, then get to the underground opening.
The Hungladder Shard will be in a small underground room in the center of the town. Inside, if players are quiet, they will have a guard to assassinate before they can claim the shard. Once it's collected, players can either leave the area or look for the hidden wealth underground just south of Hungladder. After collecting all five shards, players will return to the Cave of Gold to continue the questline with the "What Dreams May Come" mission.
The Hungladder Shard can be difficult to locate, especially with all the guards in the area, but quickly getting to the center of town should make it easy to obtain. Once players have all five shards, Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Eivor will insert them into the five slots inside the Cave of Gold. Proceeding through the cave will lead players to find the ancient artifact in Assassin's Creed Valhalla's A Fated Encounter DLC on the Isle of Skye.
