'Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' Clip: Natalie Dormer Introduces the Crew

The 2014 summer movie season is over, but as we edge into the fall awards season - traditionally a time for the prestige releases - there are still some big blockbusters yet to open. High on the list of our most anticipated November releases is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, the first of the two-part finale to the wildly successful adaptation of Suzanne Collins YA sci-fi dystopia novels.

As evidenced by the film's final theatrical trailer, returning director Francis Lawrence (Catching Fire) has embraced the final installments' transition from the controlled-arena combat of the Games to all-out rebellion against Panem's Capitol. With her home destroyed and with her friend and ally Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) in the hands of President Snow, our District 12 victor and reluctant face of the rebellion Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) must now face a real war.

A new clip from Mockingjay - Part 1 (which you can watch above) catches up with Katniss as she gets to know her new crew of District 13 rebels: soldiers Cressida (Natalie Dormer of Game of Thrones) and Messalla (Evan Ross), and the cameramen Castor (Wes Chatham) and Pollux (Elden Henson).

The cliffhanger ending of Catching Fire revealed that Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) had been a rebel operative all along, and is working with District 13's President Coin (Julianne Moore) in molding Katniss into the symbol of their cause, the Mockingjay.

To that end, Katniss needs to be seen in a combat zone - but not too close to actual danger. Katniss is still reeling from the loss of her home, and now - just as before, when she was a victor - she'll have cameras trailing her. This time she is surrounded by some true believers, all of whom having escaped the Capitol on their own and presumably inspired by the Mockingjay - including poor Pollux, whose tongue was cut out of his head.

This clip gives us a glimpse of the new stakes in play. Katniss has to fight not just for her and her family's survival, but also deal with being manipulated into taking on the role of symbol, savior and possible martyr - something the fiercely independent Katniss never wanted. Her new associates may believe in her, but can Katniss be this larger than life face of the rebellion?

Stay tuned for more from the Mockingjay - Part 1 PR push in the next couple of weeks.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 opens in theaters on November 21st, 2014.
