While The Hunger Games is best known for its compelling story and characters, it is also well regarded for its pretty and unique costumes. Taking place in a creative dystopian universe (and based on the descriptions provided by Suzanne Collins in The Hunger Games books), the series' costume designers had a lot to work with.

While you'll have to wait a while longer for the Hunger Games prequel film to premiere — Lionsgate has plans to adapt the forthcoming The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes — fans don't have to wait to look back on the incredible outfits in the series.

Here are the best-dressed characters in The Hunger Games franchise.

Katniss

Katniss is arguably one of the most fashionable characters in The Hunger Games series. Though Katniss doesn’t care if she looks pretty for the camera, someone else does: her stylist, Cinna.

Katniss is frequently wearing fashionable outfits, particularly before her first and second games. When she rode next to Peeta in the Catching Fire Tribute Parade, she dawned a tight dress that literally sparked with flames. In the same film, she completes her interview with Caesar while wearing a romantic wedding dress. When she spins, it, too, lights up with fire.

In the last film, Katniss wears a black outfit with leather shoulder pieces and boots as she prepares to assassinate President Coin. Her dark eyeliner and matching arrows completed this looks’ fierceness.

Caesar

The Capitol’s popular host, Caesar, is known for his bold fashion choices. During his interviews, he sports brightly dyed hair in colors like purple and blue. His eyebrows match.

Caesar also tends to wear flashy suits that shine almost as brightly as his smile. During Mockingjay, his most popular suit is patterned with turquoise flowers and orange leaves.

Effie

Peeta, Effie, and Katniss in The Hunger Games

It’s impossible to talk about Panem’s best-dressed without mentioning Effie Trinket. This Capitol lady knows how to stand out as a high-fashion icon.

In the first Hunger Games, she attends the reaping while wearing a pink suit, white face powder, a curly wig, and an oversized flower in her hair. She levels up her look at Catching Fire’s reaping by wearing a dress covered in monarch butterflies. Her orange makeup compliments the look.

Effie continues to dawn big wigs and frilly dresses until she’s forced to live without them in District 13.

President Snow

The good guys aren’t the only ones who know how to dress well. Though President Snow is one of the most evil characters in The Hunger Games series, he’s also one of the most stylish. Coming from the Capitol, he gets a lot of fashion help.

Though Snow cycles through various outfits, he is usually seen wearing a suit. Sometimes it's white, sometimes it's blue, and sometimes it's the color of blood. No matter the shade of his getup, there is one thing you won’t see him without: a white rose over his chest. It is his favorite type of flower.

Finnick

Finnick Odair's first appearance with a sugar cube in Catching Fire.

Finnick is one of The Hunger Games’ most attractive characters. However, it’s not just his natural good looks and charm that make him a heartthrob; It’s also the way he dresses.

When Finnick first meets Katniss, he’s shirtless. This highlights the seashell necklace that he constantly wears, which is a reference to his fishing-centric home, District 4. The seaside theme continues throughout Finnick’s other clothing choices.

During Finnick’s interview with Caesar, he wears a loose white shirt and a black sash that give him a look reminiscent of a pirate. Finnick’s flowy gray wedding suit with a high collar similarly evokes a swashbuckling feel.

Seneca Crane

The 74th Hunger Games’ Gamemaker, Seneca Crane, has a classic and unique look that blends modern fashion with Capitol flair.

Seneca Crane wears a black suit over a collared dark red shirt. It features clean lines that compliment his designed facial hair.

His dark hair is slicked back, which helps assert his authority.

Peeta

Caesar Flickerman and Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games

While Peeta’s stylist isn’t perhaps as clever as Katniss’, his clothing still makes a strong impression.

During Peeta’s first interview with Ceaser, he wears a tailored black suit accented by red flames, referencing the burning coals of District 12. In the Catching Fire interview, he tries on a high-collared white suit with a gold band that helps outwardly display his pure spirit. It matches Katniss’ wedding dress.

Peeta’s outfits lean classy rather than showy.

Cressida

When Cressida arrives in District 13, she is fresh out of the Capitol. This has her Mockingjay style combining the black costumes of her new home with the hair and tattoos of the Capitol.

Cressida sports a green vine tattoo that crawls up the side of her shaved head. Her hair is long and braided to the side. This look is edgy and original.

President Coin

Though President Coin is in the fashion-free District 13, she still finds a way to stand out. President Coin is known for her perfect, straight silver hair. She always wears a matching gray outfit.

Coin’s most notable ensemble is the light gray suit she wears on the day of her assassination. She wears matching gloves and a long, flowing cape.

Johanna

Johanna Mason in Hunger Games

While Johanna hates the costume her stylist put her in for the Catching Fire Tribute Parade, it's hard not to marvel at all of its complexities. Johanna’s outfit is glitzy, dark, and reminiscent of the trees present in her home of District 7. Her dark hair features red highlights that are fiery like her personality.

Johanna's interview outfit is also haunting and lovely. The tight golden-colored fabric of her dress helps show her powerful spirit and silent superiority.
