Big Mouth's spinoff series Human Resources has finally been given a release date. Big Mouth initially garnered mixed reviews, but this shameless coming-of-age comedy has become increasingly popular since its initial release back in 2017. Season 5 of Big Mouth finished in November 2021 and was already confirmed for Season 6 back in 2019, speaking to its success.

While Big Mouth continued to be released, Human Resources was also being developed in the background. The spinoff was confirmed back in October 2019. The story follows the Hormone Monsters, expanding more on their world and what they do when not with the kids in Big Mouth.

Big Mouth has had a myriad of stars featured in the show, and Human Resources appears to be following this trend. In June of last year, Netflix announced that Aidy Bryant, Randall Park, and Keke Palmer would all appear regularly in the new show. These stars will be seen alongside returning characters from Big Mouth, such as David Thewlis (the Shame Wizard) and Brandon Kyle Goodman (Walter the Lovebug). Fans of the adult animation were adequately introduced into the world on the Hormone Monsters in Season 5. This is something that mainly had only popped up briefly in previous seasons of the show.

Big Mouth Season 5 takes its time setting up the fantastical world in which Human Resources takes place, which is entirely different from the real world shown in the original series. While this did an excellent job laying the groundwork for their new series, it has earned Big Mouth some criticism from fans. The series is usually praised for the storyline's focus on the teens' Nick, Andrew, and Jesse. However, the writers shifted attention elsewhere in season 5. In the most recent season, the creator's tried to introduce more Hormone Monster lore in preparation for the spinoff. While this did bring more attention to Human Resources, it could have been detrimental to their viewers as fans felt the show lost touch with what made it special.
