While set outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Hulu animated series M.O.D.O.K. ended up becoming a highly praised Marvel release, albeit one different from anything most MCU fans had seen to date. The show looked more like an episode of Robot Chicken than anything by Marvel, but it had a lot of heart, and the high-quality voice cast can take much credit for that.

The principal characters’ voice cast includes a team of recognizable faces and voices from a myriad of television shows and movies. They come from all corners of Hollywood, from traditional comedy and action movie stars to veterans of voiceovers in the world of television animation.

Patton Oswalt - Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Patton Oswalt voices MODOK on Hulu's Marvel series.

Patton Oswalt took the lead in M.O.D.O.K., voicing the big-headed mad scientist. In the series, M.O.D.O.K. has to deal with losing his beloved control of A.I.M. as well as trying to keep his marriage and family together.

Voice actor Oswalt got his big break by playing Spence Olchin in The King of Queens before taking on several cameo roles in shows. However, his biggest television success came as the Koenig brothers in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., allowing him to work on both sides of the Marvel Universe.

Aimee Garcia - Lucifer

Aimee Garcia as Jodie Ramirez-Tarleton on MODOK.

Aimee Garcia voices M.O.D.O.K.’s wife, Jodie Tarleton. Unlike her husband, Jodie is a regular human with big dreams of her own.

However, the long-suffering wife filed for divorce at the start of the show and caused M.O.D.O.K. to set out on his new journey. Garcia is best known for the role of forensics specialist Ella Lopez on Netflix’s Lucifer, a series based on a Vertigo imprint comic book character.

Ben Schwartz - Sonic The Hedgehog (2020)

Ben Schwartz as Lou Tarleton on MODOK.

M.O.D.O.K.’s son Lou Tarleton is socially awkward and struggles to fit in with others in the series. However, he seems more laid back and relaxed than any of his uptight family members.

Ben Schwartz voices the 12-year-old in M.O.D.O.K., and many fans know him from Parks and Recreation where he played Jean-Ralphio. However, for those who recognize his voice, Schwartz most recently voiced Sonic the Hedgehog in the character’s 2020 movie, alongside James Marsden in the lead human role.

Melissa Fumero - Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Melissa Fumero as Melissa Tarleton on MODOK.

Melissa Fumero voices M.O.D.O.K.’s daughter Melissa Tarleton in the Marvel Hulu series. Melissa is a teenager who is rebelling against society and has a lot in common with her dad, but to her mother’s chagrin. She also has dreams of becoming a supervillain when she grows up.

Fans know Fumero best from her role on the hit comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. She is Amy Santiago, the former detective turned sergeant who has dreams of one day becoming Captain.

Wendi McLendon-Covey - The Goldbergs

Wendi McLendon-Covey as Monica Rappaccini on MODOK.

Wendi McLendon-Covey takes on the role of M.O.D.O.K.’s primary antagonist in the series, Monica Rappaccini. She is a super-genius also known as Scientist Supreme. While working for M.O.D.O.K. at the start, she soon stabs him in the back and wants to take over A.I.M. for herself.

McLendon-Covey has two high-profile roles to her name. She broke out as Deputy Clementine Johnson on Reno 911!, and more recently played mom Beverly Goldberg in The Goldbergs.

Beck Bennett - The Mitchells Vs. The Machines (2021)

Beck Bennett as Austin Van Der Sleet in MODOK.

M.O.D.O.K.’s initial downfall came when he allowed Silicon Valley hotshot Austin Van Der Sleet to purchase controlling interest in A.I.M. The wealthy young man then changed everything about A.I.M.

Beck Bennett voices Austin and most will recognize him from Saturday Night Live’s cast. However, he also just appeared on the critically acclaimed Netflix animated movie The Mitchells vs. The Machines as Eric, one of the two robots that helped the Mitchells.

Jon Daly - Big Mouth

Jon Daly as Super-Adaptoid.

Jon Daly voices the Super-Adaptoid. Pulled from the comics, Super-Adaptoid is an android programmed to duplicate the powers and abilities of any hero or villain it faces. In M.O.D.O.K., this android developed its own dreams to create things and wants to be an artist.

Daly is no stranger to voice acting. While he got his big break as the star of Kroll Show, he has made his living lately as a voice actor. He has several roles to his name, most recently as Judd Birch, Nick’s older brother on Big Mouth.

Sam Richardson - Veep

Sam Richardson as Gary Garoldson in MODOK.

While M.O.D.O.K. lost control of A.I.M., his loyal minions in the yellow hazmat outfits remained loyal. The most loyal was a man named Veep. He lost his arm and still never turned his back on M.O.D.O.K. during the turnover in the company.

Sam Richardson voices Veep on M.O.D.O.K. Ironically, viewers would recognize Richardson from his role as U.S. President Richard Splett on Veep. He also voiced the role of Dr. Champ on the animated series BoJack Horseman.

Jon Hamm - Mad Men

Jon Hamm as Iron Man in MODOK.

Tony Stark is a wealthy industrialist with more money than he knows what to do with, so it would make sense that Jon Hamm would end up voicing Stark/Iron Man in M.O.D.O.K.

Hamm has been in several movies and TV shows over his career, but he is best known for the AMC series Mad Men. He portrayed Don Draper, one of the most successful ad-men in the show's world, and enjoys a great yet troubled life. The comparisons to Stark are strong and this might be pitch-perfect casting for the role.

Nathan Fillion - Firefly

Nathan Fillion as Simon Williams in MODOK.

M.O.D.O.K. delivered a huge casting as a service for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For years, fans have speculated that Nathan Fillion could join the cast of the MCU as Simon Williams, Wonder Man. Director James Gunn even cut a Fillion cameo as Wonder Man in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

M.O.D.O.K. finally gave fans what they wanted when it cast Fillion to voice Wonder Man for the series. Fillion broke out thanks to his starring role in Joss Whedon’s Firefly and currently stars on The Rookie.
