Warning! Spoilers for Devil's Reign: Superior Four #1 by Marvel Comics
Marvel is about to introduce three new variants of Doctor Octopus, including Wolverine and Hulk, who have very unique tentacles. Readers have already been taken across the Spider-Verse, and in a new Doctor Octopus-starring miniseries, they'll get a glimpse into the Doc-Octo-verse. Devil's Reign: Superior Four from Marvel Comics will feature the villain teaming up with versions of himself from across the Multiverse - all of whom have their own different tentacles.
Superior Four spins out of the current Marvel Comics event, Devil's Reign, where the Kingpin has made his latest ploy to gain control of the Marvel Universe like never before. After sending Reed Richards and Sue Storm to prison, Wilson Fisk foolishly gave Doctor Octopus the keys to the Fantastic Four's Baxter Building. So naturally, the Spider-Man villain is using all of their advanced tech for his own nefarious purposes, most importantly, to travel across the Multiverse with different variants of himself from other Earths, including a Doc Ock Wolverine and Hulk.
In a brand new preview of Devil's Reign: Superior Four #1 (MonkeyFightingRobots.co) by Zac Thompson, Davide Tinto, Matt Milla, and VC's Ariana Maher, Doctor Octopus reveals he's opened his mind like never before and summoned three variants of himself from across the Multiverse. The variants include Otto Banner from Earth-8816, Otto Blaze from Earth-1666, and Otto Howlett of Earth-9712. The Hulk variants tentacles are made from growing arms from his back, the Ghost Rider variant's tentacles are chains, and the Wolverine variant's tentacles are incredibly sharp blades.
As the different Otto's quibble about who's the most superior variant, Otto Octavius reveals he's on a mission to travel across the Multiverse and find every version of himself and team up with them to gain complete power. He wants to build a Council of Ocks.
He inspires the Superior Four by telling them they can step from the "bootheel on the cosmos" and prove all of their doubters wrong. Despite warnings from the Hulk variant about needing more time to fix his calculations, Doctor Octopus enters the bridge and begins his Multiversal mission to assemble all of the Ottos. The Wolverine, Ghost-Rider, and Hulk variants agree to join him in the quest for vengeance and find out who is the most superior version of them all.
Seeing the Wolverine, Hulk, and Ghost-Rider variants of Otto Octavius and their different tentacles unique to each character makes us excited to see what other versions of the villain might pop up in the miniseries. So which other variants of Doctor Octopus will readers see in the issue? Perhaps, a Thor with six Mjolnir's on his back or a Hawkeye with arrows for tentacles? The possibilities are endless.
