Warning! Spoilers for Thor #26 by Marvel Comics

In a battle to determine the strongest Avenger, Thor is about to get a considerable upgrade that transforms him into his own version of the Hulk. In a new cover of Thor #26 from Gary Frank by Marvel Comics, the God of Thunder gets a Hulk upgrade turning the hero into a Jade Giant that's ready to take down Bruce Banner in a fight that will settle who is the mightiest Avenger of them all.

In April, Marvel Comics is taking readers on a new adventure to determine the strongest Avenger in the Marvel Universe. In the Banner of War crossover event, the Hulk and Thor will come to blows, as writer Donny Cates' two comics will collide. The series will feature art from Martin Coccolo and feature covers from artist Gary Frank. In a first-look at those covers, both Hulk and Thor get upgrades that transform them into new kinds of heroes, who will seemingly gain each other's powers.

This week, Marvel Comics shared two new covers for the Banner of War crossover event for the Hulk #8 and Thor #26. In the cover art for Hulk #8, Thor gets his own Hulk upgrade, as the Gary Frank image features him smashing the Bifrost Rainbow Bridge as he transforms into a Gamma-powered hero. Thor's version of the Hulk keeps his long hair and cape and might be the strongest Avenger ever if he retains some of his powers as the God of Thunder. Check out Frank's cover art below.

Check out the synopsis for the Hulk/Thor battle below:

Then the time for victory comes at last in HULK #8. Marvel’s two heaviest hitters expend their rage on one final, brutal brawl that will answer once and for all which of these heroes is the strongest. But in a fight between gods, monsters and men, what becomes of the victor? The loser? And who really has the authority to decide?

Thor isn't the only member of the Avengers getting a shocking power change, as Frank's cover for Thor #26 shows the Hulk wielding Mjolnir as he stands over the defeated All-Father. It remains to be seen how the strongest heroes in the Marvel Universe gain their opponent's great powers, but the synopsis for Thor #26 hints Iron Man will be involved - and considering the hero has reality-changing god powers at the moment, he may be the cause of the power-swap shenanigans.

Seeing the strongest Avengers in the Marvel Universe battle it out is already tantalizing for readers, but with Thor and Hulk getting possible power upgrades, the battle is going to be like nothing ever before it. Readers can see the two transformed heroes battle it out when Thor #26 and Hulk #8 by Donny Cates, Martin Coccolo, and Gary Frank arrive in comic book stores in June.
