Avengers: Infinity War is finally here and it marks the beginning of the end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, at least the current version of it, bringing together all of its film characters to battle the Mad Titan Thanos. And this means Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner a.k.a. The Incredible Hulk gets to return to Earth after a few years off-world (see: Thor: Ragnarok) to reunite with his fellow Avengers, new and old.
It's no spoiler to say that in Infinity War Banner gets to suit up in Iron Man armor for the first time, specifically the Hulkbuster armor which he helped design. This massive machine is more mech than suit and it featured in the last Avengers movie, Age of Ultron where Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) had to use it to fight an out of control Hulk.
Now, Banner must use it to help the Avengers fight off an alien invasion. But why? Why isn't he the Hulk? The following toy figure from Hasbro depicts what would have been an incredible sequence and one that brings the Hulk back into action. Screen Rant is exclusively debuting the Hulk Out Hulkbuster figure from Hasbro's Avengers: Infinity War line.
MARVEL AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR HULK OUT HULKBUSTER Figure
(HASBRO/Ages 4 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $59.99/Available: May 2018)
Smash into action and HULK OUT with HULK OUT HULKBUSTER figure! Kids can bulk up their 12-inch HULK figure by assembling armor pieces to transform him into a 13.5-inch HULKBUSTER. Bust HULK out the HULKBUSTER armor by pressing the buttons on the back of the figure and sending the armor pieces flying. Features movie-inspired HULK and HULKBUSTER phrases, smashing fist action, light-up eyes and battle sound effects. Includes armor and figure. Requires 2 AA batteries, included. Available at most major retailers and on HasbroToyShop.com.
Marvel movie fans who've closely followed the development of each film in the franchise may recognize the premise of this figure as something that was in an early draft of the Avengers: Age of Ultron script, where a twist would reveal Banner inside Iron Man armor in the final act as a distract to Ultron who had a personal vendetta against Stark. It never came to be but that idea was saved for Infinity War, at least partially.
Like many scenes from the Avengers: Infinity War marketing materials, the "Hulk Out" sequence never actually happens in the film, nor do we see the Hulk again after the film's intro sequence. Maybe in Avengers 4?
