One of Marvel's most iconic heroes, the Incredible Hulk, is considered to be one of the strongest members of the Avengers by fans, but his anger is the factor that should really make people fear him. Ever since Bruce Banner was exposed to gamma radiation in the first issue of The Incredible Hulk, the Jekyll and Hyde-like character has won his way into the hearts of countless comic fans. The drama between both the man and the monster only adds more layers to the treasured tales of a superhero who can cause incredible destruction to stop villains.

There's no doubt that Hulk has earned his place as one of the most recognized characters in Marvel Comics that finds himself in multiple world-breaking new series. However, people would be surprised to realize that it's not the Hulk's strength that should be feared. He's certainly a hero no villain would want to meet on a bad day because of how strong and out-of-control he can be depending on the iteration of the character. Still, his strength is nothing compared to his anger.

Given that the Hulk is essentially the anger Bruce feels attaining a massive form, it's clear to see that how angry he gets directly correlates to how destructive he can be. However, there's more to it that makes the Hulk's horrifying rage even scarier than fans may expect. In The Incredible Hulk #323 by Al Milgrom, both Banner and the Hulk have been separated but are slowly dying due to their molecular structure expanding and turning them intangible. In order to get the two to come together, Vision is called to control their density and bring Bruce to the Hulk. However, once Vision enters the hero to bring him back to normal, Hulk awakens and Vision gets trapped within him. Despite how much Vision fights, Hulk's anger keeps him suppressed because of its immense strength until Vision disappears within the monster.

Vision Disappearing

While Betty Ross does manage to calm the Hulk to loosen some of his anger enough for Vision to break free, it's still incredibly telling just how powerful Hulk's rage is. Not only can he pick up heavy things to smash enemies, but he also has the ability to beat Bruce Banner down in his head to make sure he stays in control. The rage that turns him into the Hulk is overbearing and can overtake anyone who tries to take control of his mind. This just makes the character scarier as well because it hints that if he got angry enough, Bruce Banner could disappear forever, trapped within an endless void at the mercy of the Hulk, kind of like the Sunken Place in the Jordan Peele film Get Out.

It's fascinating to see just how powerful the Hulk's fury can be, but to think of it as something that could see the end of Banner's scientific mind is frightening. It almost saw an end to the Vision, which would have unleashed the wrath of Scarlet Witch in a fight for the ages, but thankfully a bit of Vision was still there to break free when Betty reached through to him. The Hulk is certainly a strong hero and isn't someone to be messed with because of how destructive he can be, but the inner-mechanations of his terrifying mind make him one of the scariest and dangerous members of the Avengers.
