The Hulk is one of Marvel's strongest characters, but he's actually been beaten many times in the past in all forms of media. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962, Bruce Banner aka Hulk has become one of Marvel's strongest and most recognizable characters. Bruce is one of the smartest people on the planet, but Hulk doesn't have the same level of intelligence and instead relies on sheer strength to get out difficult situations.

In most instances, Hulk's strength and near invulnerability helps him win any fight he becomes a part of. Hulk has had many famous brawls over his 50-plus year stint in the comics, but his adventures have gone on to become even more popular thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First played by Edward Norton in The Incredible Hulk, it's been Mark Ruffalo who's taken over the role from The Avengers and onward. As strong as Hulk is, Ruffalo's version suffered a terrible defeat in his last appearance - but it's far from the only time the Green Goliath has been defeated.

In a new Screen Rant video (featured at the top of this post), we take a look at 10 times that Hulk was defeated in battle. The list kicks off with Thanos' precise takedown of him at the start of Avengers: Infinity War, a loss that was so bad it made Hulk refuse to come out and try to play savior again. But what about the rest of the list? Check out the video above for all the entries, while some choices will be highlighted below.

As devastating as the loss to Thanos in Infinity War proved to be for Hulk, there's precedence in the comics for a much quicker defeat. The "Infinity Gauntlet" comic run featured Thanos simply backhanding Hulk and Drax to defeat him. At least Hulk was able to get in a few punches in Infinity War first, before Thanos dismantled him that is. But, whenever Hulk loses, it usually isn't too long before he manages to get revenge on his prior victors. With Hulk poised to return in Avengers: Endgame and possibly as Professor Hulk, he could get his shot as redemption and help defeat Thanos.

Of course, the comics have also shown Zeus, Sentry, and a future version of Hulk defeating him, so more losses could be adapted to the big screen in the future. Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely that the defeats suffered at the hands of Superman and Batman will ever make it off the comics page, so fans interested in seeing those encounters play out will just have to revisit the back issues to do so.
