In the new preview for Avengers: War Across Time #1 by Paul Levitz and Alan Davis, the classic Avengers take on Hulk, as Kang the Conqueror travels across space and time to gain a weapon powerful enough to stop the superteam. Kang quickly dispatches an Avengers team from a different timeline before sifting through the rubble of the battle, finding the Gamma-irradiated heart of the Hulk still glowing with power. Kang has a sinister plan for the Heart's Hulk, as he intends to use it to build a robot to take down the Avengers and increase his rule over time.
Kang the Conqueror's history in the pages of Marvel Comics is tied directly with the Avengers, as while the supervillain first debuted as Rama-Tut in the pages of The Fantastic Four, he revealed his true form in Avengers #8 back in 1964. Kang would become one of the most powerful and noteworthy opponents for the likes of Hulk, Captain America, and Iron Man, squaring off against the Avengers many times with the fate of the universe on the line. Kang the Conqueror will also be the Avenger's next significant threat in the MCU, as Jonathan Majors is the universe's new big bad and will fight them in the Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
