The Hulk and She-Hulk are two of the strongest heroes in Marvel Universe for similar yet ultimately different reasons as both were born of gamma radiation and have nearly limitless potential when it comes to their raw strength. However, one Marvel Comics issue seems to indicate that the Hulk has a significant advantage over She-Hulk in terms of power specifications as the Hulk’s greatest strength is actually She-Hulk’s ultimate weakness.

Jennifer Walters is the cousin of Bruce Banner who became She-Hulk after a life-saving blood transfusion from Bruce’s gamma-irradiated blood which mutated her and transformed her into the superhero she is today. Unlike her cousin, who has multiple personalities within his psyche and becomes an entirely different person when Bruce transforms into the Hulk, She-Hulk retains her personality and intelligence when she is in her Hulk form–at least, for the most part.

In Captain Marvel #15 by Kelly Thompson and Lee Garbett, Captain Marvel is being forced to hunt down and murder every member of the Avengers by a villain named Vox Supreme who is threatening to kill thousands of Kree refugees if Carol doesn’t follow his directive. While Carol is fighting Black Panther, She-Hulk comes out of nowhere and launches an attack against her, catching Captain Marvel off guard and forcing her to quickly come up with a counter attack–which leads Captain Marvel to use She-Hulk’s rage against her.

Hulk's strength is She-Hulk's weakness.

While the Hulk gets stronger the angrier he gets, it seems as though She-Hulk gets more careless without the power to gain the strength necessary to make up for the tactical mistakes she makes after becoming too angry during battle. As shown in a number of storylines, including World War Hulk, the Hulk has the ability to become practically unstoppable when filled with enough rage, meaning that it doesn’t matter if he fights sloppy and leaves himself open to attack since there are few attacks that could hope to stop him–with his fight against Sentry being a prime example of that being true. She-Hulk, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to reach that same level of invulnerability which means that if she becomes too angry and her mind gets clouded with rage, her fighting technique suffers and she leaves herself vulnerable to attack, which is exactly what happened when She-Hulk lost to Captain Marvel in this issue.

She-Hulk is dangerous because she is a smart and technical fighter who is trained in martial arts and uses her intelligence in battle while simultaneously applying her superhuman strength when and where it is needed. The Hulk, however, doesn’t usually rely on his intelligence and instead uses his brute strength to win fights by simply out-muscling his opponent no matter who his enemy is, and he becomes powerful enough to do that by allowing himself to be consumed with rage.

While the Hulk’s unstoppable power comes from anger as it gives him the strength to survive practically any attack, She-Hulk seems to become more careless the madder she gets without being able to make up for that carelessness with raw power–making the Hulk’s greatest strength She-Hulk’s ultimate weakness.
