Marvel fan art shows Hulk devouring Ultron in a reimagining of a classic painting. Though Ultron is a well-known villain in the comics, he's only appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, as evidenced by the title, he plays a central role there, causing a crisis of conscious for Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man. Though the AI is defeated at the end of the movie, he has a lasting effect on the MCU. Ultron's destruction leads to the Sokovia Accords, which cause irreparable damage to Captain America and Iron Man's relationship, as depicted in Captain America: Civil War.

Meanwhile, Hulk has been a far more consistent presence in the MCU, though Mark Ruffalo's version of Hulk hasn't yet starred in a solo movie. However, he has appeared in all four Avengers film, including Avengers: Age of Ultron. There, he plays a key role, teaming with Iron Man to create Ultron. However, unlike Iron Man, Hulk is missing from Captain America: Civil War, as those behind the film wanted to keep his location a secret. In Thor: Ragnarok, Hulk is revealed to be on the planet Sakaar, where he meets up with Chris Hemsworth's Thor.

The Hulk/Ultron art was created by Instagram user scadarts, who explained it was inspired by the classic painting Saturn Devouring His Son by Francisco Goya. The artist also provided the original work for comparison purposes. Scadarts has already become known for their takes on Star Wars characters as old military personnel. Check out the art of Hulk devouring Ultron below.

Though the new image is undeniably creepy, as the artist points out, so is the original painting. It also plays into the cave man side of Hulk, with the character looking completely wild and out of control, with no trace of Bruce Banner remaining. He also has the same stance Saturn does in the classic painting, with Utron around the same size as Saturn's son. This makes for an impressively close reimgining of the original, albeit with a Marvel twist.

This work shows how creative Marvel fans can be with fan art. Though it may seem like a surprising take on the painting, the MCU is full of classic themes and ideas that relate very well to history. Considering the responsibility Hulk feels for his part in creating Ultron, there's also something satisfying about seeing him literally devour the AI. As the artist notes, this is their first attempt at putting Marvel in a classic painting. It will be interesting to see what other characters may be featured in the future. Though, it seems likely Hulk devouring Ultron will be hard to top.
