The last few years have seen many elements of Marvel Comics superhero the Incredible Hulk's expansive lore adapted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, a glaring omission among actor Mark Ruffalo's MCU portrayal of Hulk is his forgotten war-bound son from the comics... Skaar. The young gamma combatant brings with him an entire host of possibilities for the MCU that the other descendants of the Hulk don't quite share.

Introduced within the pages of writer Greg Pak (World War Hulk, Agents of Atlas) and artist Carlo Pagulayan (Red She-Hulk, Elektra)'s fan-favorite Planet Hulk storyline, Skaar was the surprise offspring of deadly alien Caiera and Sakaar's newly crowned champion, the Incredible Hulk. After meeting as fellow combatants of former Sakaar ruler Angmo Asan a.k.a. the Red King's deadly gladiatorial matches, Hulk and Caiera quickly hit it off. The initial conflict between the two fighters developed into a romance, culminating in Caiera's violent death initiated by her lover's own space shuttle. Prior to her untimely passing, Caiera gave birth to a son who would go on to become not only a worthy opponent, but a lasting threat to the Hulk. Initially blaming Caiera's death on his father, Skaar would target the Hulk before eventually making his way to Earth to take care of business only to discover that his father is not quite as malicious as he anticipated.

The Planet Hulk storyline went on to be loosely adapted as the subplot of 2017's critically acclaimed Thor: Ragnarok, directed by Taika Waititi. Though the film doesn't stray from featuring Hulk's journey to outer space and involvement as Sakaar's reigning champion, Hulk's romantic relationship with Caiera is removed completely to make way for a friendly rivalry with Avengers teammate Thor. However, Ragnarok clearly establishes that Banner's human consciousness remains dormant for two whole years, while the Hulk is left in the driver's seat to become a hero on Sakaar. It would be logical for Hulk to transcend Bruce's vision and begin a life of his own, while the Avengers continue to fight their own personal battles on Earth. This would leave any possible Hulk offspring to be depicted as either young children or teenagers, assuming Marvel doesn't age Skaar up for dramatic purposes. Similar to the possibility of exploring the five years surrounding the aftermath of Thanos' snap, an opportunity will always exist to explore Hulk's extended period on Sakaar.

Though a solo franchise may seem out of the question due to complicated film rights, Ruffalo's Hulk will go on to play a co-starring role opposite his fictional cousin and superhero attorney Jennifer Walters a.k.a. She-Hulk in the upcoming self-titled television series for Disney+. Not many details have been revealed regarding Banner's integration into the show, but rumors have begun to emerge following his official inclusion to the cast. As a premier superhero lawyer within the Marvel Universe, She-Hulk has become synonymous with representing the weirdest and wildest court cases imaginable.

It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to see Jennifer have to come to her own cousin's aid, not on the battlefield but in court, when Hulk's alien bride and his young son Skaar show up on Earth to help tie up loose ends. Skaar may not have appeared in Ragnarok but the seeds are firmly planted for the introduction of the Incredible Hulk's long-lost son should Marvel Studios choose to follow up on this existing plot thread.
