Hugh Jackman jokes about finally putting on the yellow Wolverine costume for Halloween this season, after spending years avoiding bright-colored superhero suit. The Australian actor made his debut as James "Logan" Howlett, aka Wolverine, in Bryan Singer's 2000 film, X-Men. He continued to play the regenerative-mutant throughout 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise (from 2000 to 2017), appearing in each and every installment (with the exception of Tim Miller's Deadpool), until he officially retired his claws earlier this year in James Mangold's critically-acclaimed film, Logan.

Logan's story concluded in perhaps the most satisfying way, with him finally finding happiness by saving his genetically-cloned daughter, Laura (Dafne Keen), aka X-23. Unfortunately, with the release of Logan, that means that longtime franchise and comic book fans will never get to see Jackman wear Wolverine's iconic yellow-and-blue spandex on-screen, despite having already seen him wear numerous black-colored costumes. In fact, not putting on the yellow costume ended up being one of Jackman's biggest regrets. As it turns out, he just might remedy that regret and give fans what they've been waiting for.

Jackman posted a picture on Twitter this morning of himself holding up a Wolverine Halloween costume. He joked about finally wearing the yellow spandex suit for Halloween this year. And while that's not exactly what fans wanted to see, it's still better than nothing - but fans would require proof of him wearing the costume to feel satisfied. Take a look at his tweet:

Wolverine has worn several costumes over the years, but his yellow-and-blue spandex suit is the character's most defining suit, as much as costumes for other comic book characters such as Batman and Spider-Man define theirs. Of course, the costume itself has been redesigned and updated ever since its debut in 1974. The most recognizable tiger-striped version comes from the '90s cartoon, X-Men: The Animated Series, as well as perhaps the numerous X-Men video games that released around that time.

The yellow Wolverine costume never found its way onto the big screen, but that doesn't mean there weren't talks about its inclusion. Mangold came close to adding the costume in his 2013 film, The Wolverine. A scene from that movie in which Logan and Rila Fukushima's Yukio are flying on a plane was trimmed down. It originally showed Logan opening a gift box and seeing the yellow Wolverine costume - but Mangold felt that the scene didn't work canonically since Wolverine wouldn't be wearing the costume Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Although audiences never got to see Jackman wearing the yellow-and-blue spandex on the silver screen, there's still time for him to wear the suit outside the movies and provide some closure to his most devout fans.
