In response to Hugh Jackman’s own gross gift idea, Ryan Reynolds revealed the gross prank he almost played on the former Wolverine. Reynolds and Jackman are best known for playing their respective Marvel heroes, Deadpool and Wolverine, and it’s while portraying those two characters in the less-than-memorable X-Men Origins: Wolverine that the pair’s playful rivalry began. Since then, the constant ribbing back and forth has extended to social media, interviews, and even films, most notably in Reynolds’ Deadpool franchise. Although Jackman’s retired from playing Wolverine, it doesn’t stop Reynolds and him from exchanging verbal blows at one another.

Reynolds is currently promoting his upcoming release Free Guy, where the actor plays Guy, a background character in a video game. However, even during the film’s promotion, his rivalry with Jackman has come to the forefront as the Australian actor teased the star while commenting on his MCU debut as Deadpool. The frienemies are also known for helping promote one another’s work, and in his unique way, Jackman promoted Free Guy while posting a photo with the director and mocking Reynolds in the process. Amusingly, the Logan star once highlighted grosser prank ideas he has in mind for Reynolds, such as last year when he discussed a gift idea for his frienemy that involved ding-dong ditch and “dog poo.” Unsurprisingly, Reynolds has a gross idea of his own.

In an interview with The Jess Cagle Podcast with Julia Cunningham (via CinemaBlend), Cagle showed Reynolds the clip of Jackman discussing his “dog poo” birthday gift idea, and the quick-witted star immediately pointed out Jackman saying “dog poo” as opposed to “dog s***” before telling him to “get with the program.”  However, the Deadpool actor then went onto share his unpleasant birthday gift idea that he was going to send Jackman, which involves “a sushi platter, but the whole thing was just made out of old Band-aids.”

"First of all, only Hugh Jackman would call it dog poo, it's dog s***, Hugh, let's get with the program here. Um, and you know, this year I had this great shot that I was going to send him. I was going to send him like a sushi platter, but the whole thing was just made out of old Band-aids."

A sushi platter made out of old Band-aids would be quite the retort to “dog poo” or “dog s***,” but there’s no denying both gifts would be quite sickening. Of course, Reynolds' gross idea is just another fun comment in the never-ending battle between the two Hollywood stars. The two are very close friends, and in addition to entertaining fans with their comedic game of one-upmanship, Reynolds and Jackman used their “rivalry” for good in the past by supporting charities. Also, fans received an insight into their true heartfelt friendship back in May when Jackman showed his support for his friend after Reynolds posted about his battle with anxiety.

Thankfully, it appears the Reynolds and Jackman rivalry is not going anywhere, and even though Jackman supposedly won their feud last year, it seems like their back and forth will fortunately never stop. Fans have long clamored for the actors to once again come together as Deadpool and Wolverine on the big screen, and despite Jackman’s recent tease, that idea appears to be off the table. However, the director of Free Guy, and Jackman’s Real Steel, Shawn Levy, has recently stated that he hopes to reunite the popular stars in a Real Steel sequel. It remains to be seen if that comes to fruition or not, but in the meantime, Reynolds and Jackman will surely have more gross ideas for one another.
