The Wolverine star Hugh Jackman has stripped down for his brand new commercial. Despite the chaos of 2020, the year has seen Hugh Jackman star in HBO’s Bad Education, which not only earned critical acclaim but saw the Australian earn an Emmy nomination. However, Jackman has been keeping audiences entertained in other ways as well, such as through his never-ending feud with Ryan Reynolds and also commercials. In September, the Logan star used his frenemy, Reynolds, to promote his Laughing Man Coffee in an ad where Reynolds humorously narrates Jackman’s change from grumpy to nice after drinking the coffee. Now, Jackman has yet another hilarious commercial for fans.
The Australian brand R.M. Williams have now posted their new commercial featuring Jackman on their official YouTube page, hilariously titled R.M. Williams Statement of Support For Hugh Jackman. It shows a private meeting between the brand’s Senior Executive and the actor, and Jackman is expressing his admiration for the boots but has taken the clause which states he can only wear R.M. Williams “literally,” as he is wearing nothing but the boots. What follows is a great back and forth of the executive trying to tell Jackman to wear clothes and the actor continually praising the brand by making tongue in cheek comments like “the balls of my feet just feel like they’ve died.” The full commercial can be seen below:
The commercial wonderfully captures Jackman’s great sense of humor and charming personality, even if he is the butt of the joke. It intelligently allows the star to continually praise the brand, but not in a fashion where it feels forced because as well as staring at the boots, fans are distracted by an unclothed Jackman. The Hollywood star was named the first-ever ambassador for R.M. Williams last year, and just as he mentions in the commercial, he is clearly “all in” in promoting the brand. After the entertaining Laughing Man’s Coffee ad, it’s almost fitting Jackman has come out with this cheeky R.M. Williams commercial, where he’s stripped down to reveal just how much he loves the boots.
