Marvel revealed its Phase 5 plans and the two big events that will close Phase 6 in what is now called the Multiverse Saga, and while they include some exciting movies, the biggest absentee is Spider-Man – so how does he fit into the rest of the Multiverse Saga? After a lot of doubt and speculation over where the MCU’s Phase 4 is heading, as so far most of its movies and TV shows felt disconnected, Kevin Feige cleared everything up during Marvel’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, revealing not just when Phase 4 will end but also the movies and TV shows forming Phase 5 and the two events that will close the Multiverse Saga: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Phase 4 is ending with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, with Phase 5 kicking off with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will see the proper introduction of Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), the big villain of the Multiverse Saga. This new era in the MCU will also see the introduction of new heroes, such as the Fantastic Four and Riri Williams/Ironheart, the formation of an antihero team in Thunderbolts, and the continuation of the stories of some well-established and popular characters… but there are some important names missing from the Multiverse Saga’s plans.

Among those is Spider-Man, who has been a key player in the Multiverse Saga so far thanks to the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he and Doctor Strange accidentally opened the gates to the multiverse and heavily messed with the fabric of space and time. Spider-Man’s actions had an impact on the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and they will surely continue to be felt through the rest of Phase 4 and 5 – and yet, Spider-Man isn’t included in the Multiverse Saga… for now.

Will Spider-Man 4, 5 & 6 Be In The Multiverse Saga?

After a long wait, a deal between Sony and Marvel allowed Spider-Man to join the MCU while also being part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The web-slinger made his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War, where he was recruited by Tony Stark to join his side of the battle, and he later returned to star in his first solo movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming. Peter joined the MCU’s heroes in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame before closing the Infinity Saga with Spider-Man: Far From Home, and his biggest adventure since Endgame came with No Way Home. At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter made Strange cast a spell that would make the world forget Peter Parker, and so the movie ended with Peter starting a new life all by himself, as none of his loved ones know who he is. This is far from the end for Spider-Man, as a sequel and a new Spider-Man trilogy were confirmed to be in development in November 2021, but it’s unknown when the web-slinger will return to the MCU.

Now, with Phase 4 officially ending with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Phase 5 seemingly complete with movies and TV shows, there’s hope for Spider-Man (and other seemingly forgotten characters) to return in the Multiverse Saga. Marvel announced only three projects as part of Phase 6 – Fantastic Four, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars – so there’s room for Spider-Man to kick off his new trilogy in Phase 6. Following Marvel’s Hall H panel, Kevin Feige shared that Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and spider-Man will lead the street-level part of the MCU, so there are definitely plans to bring him back in the near future.

After a lot of speculation over a possible Avengers 5 and what the next big event/crossover in the MCU would be, Marvel confirmed that the Multiverse Saga will end with two massive events: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. It’s still unclear who could form the new Avengers team (though it risks being an overpowered Avengers lineup), but it seems unlikely that Spider-Man wouldn’t be part of it, more so as his actions in No Way Home had big repercussions in the multiverse. The final phase of the Multiverse Saga is still in development, and the events in Phase 5 will be key in building Phase 6 and deciding which characters and stories will be part of it, but given Spider-Man’s popularity, his impact on the multiverse’s chaos, and the major cliffhanger left by No Way Home, he will surely have a place in Phase 6 and will join the new Avengers to fight against Kang.
