Hiccup and Toothless attempt to find the mysterious Home of the Dragons in the new trailer for How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. While it's already been four years in the real world since How to Train Your Dragon 2 hit theaters, Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) is only one year older when the third (and final) chapter in DreamWorks' acclaimed animated series picks up. The movie thus explores the young Viking's early days as chief of his home village Berk, following the sacrifice and death of his father, Stoick (Gerard Butler).
While The Hidden Dragon mostly takes place in the film's present, writer/director Dean DeBlois has confirmed that the movie includes flashbacks and flash-forwards that serve to bring Hiccup's overarching story to a proper conclusion here. Indeed, The Hidden World's first trailer provided a glimpse of an older and bearded Hiccup in the film, some years after his attempt to usher in a peace between humans and dragons. The movie's New York Comic Con 2018 panel similarly included a teaser that jumped back in time to show Stoick telling a very young-looking Hiccup about the dragons' mysterious home.

DreamWorks has now released a second theatrical trailer that explores "The Hidden World" and its role in the film's story even further. Check it out in the space below.
The second trailer for The Hidden World includes the NYCC footage from the film, along with brand-new material of the actual "Hidden World", aka. the dragons' home realm. It also delves further into two key story threads in the film; namely, Toothless encountering a potential mate in the form of a female Night Fury (or, as America Ferrera's Astrid dubs it, a Light Fury) and the villainous dragon hunter Grimmel (F. Murray Abraham) making his way to Berk, intent on capturing as many dragons as possible.
While this new promo is more dramatic overall than The Hidden World's first trailer (which focused more on Toothless' efforts to woo the Light Fury), it still make room for humor and tender moments amidst the dragon-flying spectacle, much like the first two How to Train Your Dragon movies did. It stands to reason that The Hidden World itself will likewise meet the standard for quality set by the previous films in the series, especially with DeBlois and his trusted collaborators working behind the scenes again. Indeed, the ways things are shaping up, How to Train Your Dragon may ultimately go down as one of the best movie trilogies in recent memory, animated or live-action.
