The Showtime series Yellowjackets has earned a lot of buzz, especially following its multiple Emmy nominations. The series, which stars Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, and a number of other young actors, depicts a group of young women from a high school soccer team whose plane crashes in a remote location. The ladies are left to fend for themselves for 19 months before being rescued.
The story flips between the '90s and present-day with the women, now adults, still dealing with the trauma of what happened; and the secrets about the dark bonds they developed with one other. Yellowjackets has been compared to Lost for its deep cast and numerous mysteries. As noted, Yellowjackets was renewed for a second season in December 2021, which is set to premiere on Showtime on March 26, 2023. In December 2022, however, ahead of the second season release, Yellowjackets was also renewed for a third season, which will presumably premiere sometime in 2024.
