Likewise, accuracy plays a huge part in power shots, meaning it is only a good idea to attempt one when a player is facing directly toward the goal to avoid the attempt flying a long way off target.
Power Shots are most effective from outside the box. If the opposition gives an attacking player with good shooting stats space, it is a viable option to have a long-range effort rather than trying to pass through the defense. The chances of scoring with a Power Shot are significantly increased when using players with high shooting stats, such as the best strikers in Ultimate Team. From these positions, normal shots would have little chance of scoring, but Power Shots that are on target have a high probability of a goal. The only other situation when it is appropriate to try a Power Shot is if a player is clear on goal, but there are other shot types that are easier to perform in this circumstance with a higher chance of a guaranteed goal.
Of the new shot types in recent years, Power Shots are one of the most effective in FIFA 23 while not having the consistency of some traditional finishing options.
