Biomutant, developed by Swedish studio Experiment 101, recently released on May 25th, 2021 for PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. The game catapults players into a post-apocalyptic, open-world environment with tons of unique enemies to battle and plenty of rare loot to plunder. Kung-Fu and magic, what more could one ask for! Similar to many RPGs, Biomutant allows players to experiment with character customization through stat allocation, resistance levels, and cosmetic goodies. Players can expect to find (and customize) a wide range of weapons and armor in their journey.

One weapon that will come in handy as players explore ruins and tunnels for treasure is the crowbar or "Klawbar." While the crowbar is a staple in many action-orientated games, fans of  Half-Life and Half-Life 2 will likely be reminded of Gordon Freeman's infamous "crowbar." In Biomutant, the crowbar is acquired during the main story campaign, so players should not worry about finding the item.

Upgrading The Crowbar in Biomutant

Biomutant Klawbar Crowbar Upgrades

As players progress through the world of Biomutant, certain barriers will require an upgraded version of the crowbar. The crowbar can be upgraded to level 2 by visiting an NPC known as "Pebble." Upgrading the Klawbar is somewhat similar to upgrading a character's lockpicking level in other RPGs. Basically, this new version of the crowbar grants more access to doors with better treasure behind them. While traversing and gallivanting around, don't forget to watch out for Bio Points, which allows players to invest in "mutations" that increase character power while leveling up.

Once players find Pebble near Knack Hill, simply interact with Pebble and complete the questline, "Pebble's Climbspot Tests." Here, simply scale the various mountain peaks indicated on the map with some clever maneuvering to finish this section of the quest. After the climb spots have been secured, return to Pebble to receive the reward. The game should prompt a short animation with the caption, "Old World Klawbar Level 2." After completing these steps, players will now have permanent access to the level 2 Klawbar!

The upgraded Klawbar is one important step in any new character's journey. In addition to the linear progression of the Klawbar, players will also need to master slightly more open-ended things like crafting a suitable weapons and perfecting this new take on 3rd person combat. Biomutant strikes a nice balance between ease of play and player choice, which results in rewarding, evolving game-play.
