The first content update to Disney Dreamlight Valley brought new characters, new quests, and some new mechanics to the game. The introduction of Scar in the Sunlit Plateau has given players a bunch of new quests to complete, including a few to upgrade their shovel. Once these quests are completed, players will finally be able to break through the large bones blocking one side of the Sunlit Plateau and will have access to the entire area.

In order for players to get their fully upgraded shovel in Disney Dreamlight Valley, they must complete two of Scar's friendship quests: "Breaking Bones" and "The Circle of Life." Both of these quests require special items that are not standard crafting material. However, once both quests have been completed, players will be able to break any of the non-decorative bones in Sunlit Plateau.

Where To Find Old Bones And Lion's Claws In Dreamlight Valley

Disney Dreamlight Valley Player Exploring Sunlit Plateau

For the first shovel upgrade through Scar in Disney Dreamlight Valley, players will need to start the quest "Breaking Bones." Once players are at a high enough friendship level with Scar, they can speak to him about the bones that are littering the Sunlit Plateau. Scar will tell the players to talk to Scrooge McDuck about a mold and then head back to Scar to find out what materials are needed for the new Lion's Claw shovel head. One of the materials needed is Lon's Claws. Players will require five of these, which can be found at the base of the cliffs in Sunlit Plateau. Their location is signified by the typical sparkling mound of dirt where players should dig. Once players have gathered these and the other materials, they can use a crafting station to craft the Lion's Claw shovel head. Once crafted, players need to open their Dreamlight Valley inventory, which can be upgraded, find the Lion's Claw shovel head, and interact with it in order to apply it to their shovel. Players will now be able to break five small wildebeest bones to complete "Breaking Bones."

Once players have reached Level 7 of Scar's friendship, they can begin the quest "The Circle of Life." This time around, Scar sends the player to talk with Mother Gothel, who will again ask you to collect certain materials, one of which is the Flower of Bones. To obtain the Flower of Bones, players will need to find the old bones, which are located in the Dreamlight Valley Vitalys mines. To get to the old bones, players should turn left immediately upon entering the mines, run past the crates and pillars while staying on the right side of the passage, turn right at the entranceway surrounded by wooden pillars, and turn left at the next fork. The player will end up in a small hallway with several gray bricks, and the old bones will be on the ground for the player to pick up. After returning the old bones to Scar, players will need to turn them into ashes which are then planted and grown into the Flower of Bones. Players can then craft the Roaring Shovel Head and upgrade their shovel to be able to break the larger bone piles.

With the ability to upgrade the shovel to break the bones in Sunlit Plateau, almost all areas of the current worlds in Disney Dreamlight Valley are accessible. However, players are still waiting on the ability to put out the green fires in the Forgotten Lands and to enter the pumpkin house there as well. Hopefully, the next update will allow players and upgrade to another tool to continue exploring the valley.
