Rare materials can grow at a farm that players can unlock in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, yielding important crops that act as resources Link might use during their adventures across Hyrule. By completing a few basic quests, players are gifted a simple plot of land to use. Since exploring for materials can get a little tedious, this farm can be a great way to ensure certain items are always available.

The farm players get can be done by completing two side quests found in Hateno Village and does not appear next to any house that Link may buy in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Crows cannot be grown at a spot of the player's choosing and are rather locked to a specific location after the quests have been completed. Players should consider unlocking fast travel points close to Hateno Village so that they can return to this farm often once it's unlocked.

How to Unlock The Farm in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Symin The School Teacher at Hateno Village who can Help Link access a Farm

A new school opening in Hateno Village provides the two side quests players need to finish, called "Teach Me a Lesso.". By speaking to the Hateno Village School teacher during the day, players can embark on the first quest, which is given out while a class happens to be going on. Similar to finding Koltin for the Mystic Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the time of day marks when players can pursue these quests.

The teacher first asks Link if they can bring back proof of the Calamity to their class. Next, players may travel to Kakariko Village and enter the Chief's House to find a picture showing the Calamity in the bedroom on one of the upper floors. Returning to the class and giving this image to the teacher completes the first of the farm side quests in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

For the second "Teach Me a Lesson" quest, players must show the students a rare recipe. The exact item the teacher is looking for is called the Monster Curry in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, made with Hylian Rice, Monster Extract, and Goron Spice. While the Spice may be purchased from a vendor in Goron City and the Extract from someone in Tarrey Town, the Rice is located all around Hateno that players can harvest.

How To Grow Crops In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Taking care of both quests earns players the small farming plot outside the school, where the NPC Uma will teach them the basics of crop growing in the "Uma's Garden" side quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Players may choose to plant Pumpkins, Tomatoes, Wildberries, Wheat, Rice, Carrots, or Melons in this location from their inventory, which takes two in-game days to grow fully.

It takes about 48 minutes of real-world time for two days to pass inside the game, so players must be patient with the items they choose to plant at the farm.

This small farm can be one of the best ways to grow rare crops like Hylian Rice in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom without spending Rupees at vendors, making this feature one of the best to unlock in the game.
