In the early stages of progression in Hogwarts Legacy, players may reach the inventory space cap very quickly. Until players complete the necessary steps to increase their inventory space, players will have to sell their unwanted Gear. Not every piece of Gear may appeal to players, as progression to bigger and better items causes old outfits to become obsolete in every aspect except the currency gained from selling these pieces of equipment to various vendors.
Despite Hogwarts Legacy's easy-to-understand Transmog system that allows players to transform their Gear's appearance to any previous cosmetic owned, there are no reasons to keep old items beyond a certain point unless they have enough inventory space. Instead, players are encouraged to switch and sell their old Gear quickly when they are factoring in the growing stats of new Gear and the selling prices of other powerful Gear seen later in the story.
Where To Sell Gear in Hogwarts Legacy
Higher-level Gear is marked in gold and purple colors and remains stored through this vendor for absurdly high prices that players likely will want to sell old Gear to afford. Although there are no options to store Gear outside a player's inventory until after they unlock the Room of Requirement, the amount of customization tied to Transmoging newly bought clothes helps prevent hoarding an abundance of equipment instead of quest items in Hogwarts Legacy.
Hogsmeade is one of the easiest places to find a vendor; any of the special icons shown on the map have a vendor inside their shop's building. There are also various merchants scattered around the open world in many places. Any NPC with the merchant icon depicted in the above image can buy old Gear in exchange for Galleons, regardless of their profession.
The Hogsmeade map becomes much easier to get to when using a Broom in Hogwarts Legacy or the Floo Powder Network, as both methods are far faster than walking the full distance to any vendor from the Hogwarts castle itself.
Gear Selling Prices In Hogwarts Legacy
Since selling gear is straightforward, players should be aware that different types of gear fetch different amounts of Galleons. Essentially, depending on the rarity, a set of gear could fetch up to 200 Galleons. Here are the amounts of Galleons players can expect for selling gear of different rarities:
Gear Type |
Galleons |
---|---|
Green |
60 |
Blue |
90 |
Purple |
150 |
Gold |
200 |
When speaking to one of these merchants, navigate to the top left of the screen, The Left tab to buy their wares, such as potion and their ingredients, is open by default, but the icon to the right of it is where players can see their own inventory and the option to sell their Gear. Pieces of equipment have different prices tied to them for sale, which, unfortunately, may be lower than the price they were bought for originally if purchased from shops beforehand. Unwanted Gear in Hogwarts Legacy that players wish to sell helps build their funds toward far more important tools and gear against powerful enemies players inevitably encounter that threatens the wizarding world.
