Deer Stew is a Food item in Valheim that can be crafted early on in a playthrough. This is a recipe that players can learn by obtaining some beginning materials. Deer Stew is one of the best Food items that can be created before entering the Swamp biome. Players who wish to cook this recipe first need to craft a Cooking Station and a Cauldron.

New Food in Valheim's Mistlands update has expanded the number of consumable items in the game. Fortunately, players do not have to get far to learn the recipe for Deer Stew. The first ingredient is, of course, Cooked Deer Meat. This requires that players kill a Deer, which can be a challenge for those new to Valheim. These animals are easily startled and will run from even the slightest noise. Adventures can either crouch to sneak up on a Deer or use a Bow. The latter is much easier and requires few materials. A Crude Bow can be crafted with ten Wood and eight Leather Scraps. After acquiring Deer Meat, the Food must be cooked with a Cooking Station over a fire.

How To Cook The Deer Stew Recipe in Valheim

Player cooking food in Cauldron in Valheim

Deer Stew is likely the first recipe that players will discover, which combines multiple ingredients. This Food item can only be cooked in a Cauldron. Depending on the type of ingredients, the resulting meal will have different effects. Adventures who have traveled to the Mistlands biome in Valheim will have access to plenty of other cooking recipes. However, Deer Stew remains a useful consumable, as the ingredients can be gathered in abundance.

  • Cooked Deer Meat x 1
  • Blueberries x 1
  • Carrot x 1
  • Max Health + 45
  • Max Stamina + 15

Blueberries are the second ingredient that players will acquire in their journey. These can be harvested from bushes in the Black Forest biome, similar to Raspberries. While the first two ingredients are easy to obtain, the last component of Deer Stew is not. Carrots can only be grown from Carrot Seeds. Players will gather these while searching for Blueberries in the Black Forest. Once acquired, adventures must till the land and plant the seeds with a Cultivator in Valheim. Carrots take roughly two in-game days to fully grow.

The last step before the Deer Stew can be cooked is to create a Cauldron. This is crafted with 10 Tin, which can be mined in the Black Forest. Players will need to defeat the first boss, Eikthyr, and make an Antler Pickaxe. Combining Cooked Deer Meat, Blueberries, and Carrots in a Cauldron will create one Deer Stew. This can be stacked up to 10 in one inventory slot. Players should remember to apply all their Food buffs before entering any of the dangerous biomes in Valheim.
