Much like Stardew Valley, building relationships in the simulation game Disney Dreamlight Valley is a key part of gameplay. Since Disney Dreamlight Valley launched in early access earlier this week, the game has already exploded in popularity with Disney fans, who can now live beside their favorite characters in an idyllic town. Players can level up friendships with many beloved characters, but building friendships can be time-consuming without the right tricks.

Leveling up friendships in Disney Dreamlight Valley has many perks that come along with it. As players gain friendship with the characters living in Dreamlight Valley - which at the beginning of the game include Goofy, Mickey, Merlin, and Scrooge McDuck - they will gain rewards for each level in a sort of battle pass-esque system, receiving things like Star Coins, clothing items, and furniture. Friendship building is also a key feature of Disney Dreamlight Valley in terms of advancing the game's main storyline, as the quest to unlock the game's beach area requires players to build three friendships to level five.

Like many simulation games, relationships are built in Disney Dreamlight Valley primarily through the typical methods - daily conversation and giving gifts. These methods will help increase friendship levels dramatically with NPCs, particularly if players give their favorite gifts. Quests will also help raise friendship levels with Dreamlight Valley residents, although these can vary widely in their complexity and the time required to complete them. However, these methods don't come close to the efficiency of another method.

Raising Friendship Levels Fast In Disney Dreamlight Valley

While players could certainly rely on slowly building relationships over time through conversation and gift-giving like in Stardew Valley, there's a much faster way to increase friendships: having residents follow the player around. When a resident follows the player, their relationship with the player will increase whenever the player does any action. This includes catching fish, breaking rocks, gathering materials, farming, or eliminating thorns. With residents following players, they can quickly level up friendships several levels simply by going about their daily tasks. As an added bonus, as players level up their friendship with a character, they can choose different perks for when that resident accompanies them, like catching an increased amount of fish or harvesting more crops.

Initiating a hang-out session with the characters of Disney Dreamlight Valley is quite simple. All players need to do is start a conversation with a character and then select the option "Let's hang out!" After doing so, the resident will follow the player around indefinitely, quickly increasing their relationship while also providing an added bonus to the daily tasks players will perform in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
