A good team is united through friendship, and in Marvel's Midnight Suns, it's the Hunter's job to forge those bonds. When the player recruits a new hero into their team, they can interact with the hero and increase their Friendship Level. Increasing a Friendship Level unlocks new abilities for the hero and makes them stronger. In addition, spending time with every hero increases the Team Friendship Level, bestowing more combo abilities, compliments, and gift shop items.

One of the easiest ways to increase Friendship Levels is to invite heroes on Missions. These missions are where the card-based gameplay of Marvel's Midnight Suns comes into play. Most relationship development will occur in the Abbey, the headquarters of the Midnight Suns. While in the Abbey, players can talk with their teammates, with some dialogue options increasing Friendship Levels.

How to Bond with Heroes in Marvel's Midnight Suns

Marvel's Midnight Suns Meditation Hangout Nico Friendship Level Night Abbey Hunter

The best way to make friends with the heroes of the Midnight Suns is to invite them to a hangout. In a hangout, the Hunter picks an activity to do together, such as meditation, video games, or fishing (because what game nowadays doesn't include fishing). So, for example, despite Spider-Man's demonic upgrades, he won't be a fan of exploring the strange grounds of the Abbey. He will, however, love watching a movie. So it's best to pick hangouts the character loves to gain 7 XP.

Havens are a one-time use interaction with the Hunter and a hero. Havens are marked in blue within the Abbey. When the Hunter invites a hero to a haven, they participate in a specific activity associated with it. Any Friendship XP gained in a haven is double what it would be in a hangout.

Players can give the hero a gift at the end of a hangout or time in a haven. Every hero in Marvel's Midnight Suns prefers different gifts based on their personality and backstory. Each gift has a different rarity. For example, Common gifts give +1 for just about everyone. If a Hero loves a particular gift, they will get +4 for Rare gifts, +8 for epic gifts, and +10 for Legendary gifts. It is worth pointing out that Legendary gifts can only be given to a specific hero.

Once a day, the Hunter can invite a hero to the Yard for some sparring. Sparring helps improve a hero's cards and stats while also rewarding Friendship XP. Training in the Yard also allows players to collect compliments, a resource that can help increase Friendship XP. When players spend a compliment on a hero, they'll gain 4 XP, so long as they space out their compliments. Players can also earn compliments by completing Hero Ops and Research Projects. Sadly, these compliments don't lead to romancing any Marvel's Midnight Suns hero.

Interacting with heroes adds the "role play" experience to the game and allows players to bond with some of their favorite characters. As the game gains more DLC heroes, the Hunter will have plenty of relationships to explore and many opportunities to increase their Friendship Level with Marvel's Midnight Suns members.
