Final Fantasy XIV has been updated to version 5.3 and along with it are various new features and adjustments. For many players, they will be experiencing Heavensward for the first time due to it being included in the standard edition and all free trials. Dedicated crafters will be pleased to know that synthesis collections are now even more streamlined and intuitive. This will allow players of all experience to quickly earn gil and get a jump start on making custom items for residents of Eorzea.

Among one of the big addition is the Dwarven Beast Tribe quest. This can be unlocked by finishing the level 70 quest It’s Dwarfin Time from the Affable Towndwarf in Kholusia; though this is only after progressing through the level 78 main story of Shadowbringers and other side stories. By gaining notoriety with the dwarves they will eventually sell exclusive items, including the brand new Rolling Tankard mount.

Advancing Reputation in Final Fantasy XIV

Rolling Tankard Cannon weapon in Final Fantasy XIV

The Rolling Tankard is used in several random daily quests, allowing players to test drive it. However, it will take hard work for the Dwarves to allow the vehicles to be driven to other zones. Mizutt in Lakeland sells various items for Hammered Frogments obtained by completing daily quests. They expand their list of wares each time a player gains enough reputation and completes the related rank advancement quest. The Rolling Tankard Ignition Key can be bought after gaining the rank of Sworn. Each rank can be maxed out with the following requirements:

  • Friendly: 510 rep, 9 quests, 3 days, quest: A Piss in the Brewery
  • Trusted: 720 rep, 12 quests, 4 days, quest: I Heard You Like Tanks
  • Respected: 990 rep, 17 quests, 6 days, quest: Tanking is Hard
  • Honored: 1320 rep, 22 quests, 8 days, quest: Chief Concerns
  • Sworn: 1730 rep, 29 quests, 10 days, quest: Tanks for the Memory

Note that excess reputation does not transfer to the next rank. In total, players will need to complete 60 daily quests over 21 days to gain Sworn rank. On a day where a new rank is achieved, the player can take on 3 extra bonus quests before 00:01 Japan time and shave off a day. This option will become forfeit as soon as it reaches midnight in Japan, so it is a good idea to remember time zone differences. The final Bloodsworn rank completes the storyline and grants even more rewards like the Lali Hop dance emote.

Focusing on the Dwarves

Three weeks of questing doesn’t seem too bad a first, but that is if one can remember to complete their dailies in a timely manner and not be tempted by other Beast Tribes or other content. Only 12 Beast Tribe quests can be taken a day across the 14 tribe options. Disciples of the Hand with multiple classes will need to also consider the level 50 Ixali in North Shroud, the level 60 Moogles in Churning Mists, and level 70 Namazu in Azim Steppe. Disciples of War and Magic and Disciples of the Land will also need to juggle the two other Shadowbringers Beast Tribe: the Pixies of Il Mheg and Qitari in Rak’tika Greatwood. Another big distraction is that other Beast Tribes are a means of improving the ultimate weapon of Heavensward, the Anima Lux to its item level 210 and 240 states.

Any quests unfished the previous day must be completed before new ones can be undertaken. This can leave players in the situation of having 12 active quests all across the Source and First Shard, followed by 12 more waiting to be queued. For those wishing to use all of their allowance, it would be a good idea to quickly teleport between aetherytes and use flying mounts often.

The Rolling Tankard Ignition Key also costs 18 Hammered Frogments. Players should keep this price in mind and not overspend their currency on too much high level materia and other prizes from Mizutt. Not adhering to this regiment can delay earning the mount days or even weeks.
