In Disney Dreamlight Valley Purified Night Shards are a unique item players can craft using both Dream Shards and Night Shards. However, unlike most other crafted items in the game, which often have different uses, Purified Night Shards in Dreamlight Valley serve mainly as key items in friendship quests, with the game’s many Disney characters occasionally requesting shards.

Given that completing friendship quests are a great way to level up friendships in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it's good to have a healthy supply of Purified Night Shards on hand. While the game provides the crafting recipe for Dreamlight Valley's Purified Night Shards, which require 5 Night Shards and 1 Dream Shard, it doesn’t tell players where to find either material other than to look “everywhere” in the Valley. However, this tip is more helpful than it seems on the surface.

Finding Night Shards & Dream Shards In Dreamlight Valley

Disney Dreamlight Valley Player Digging Up Night Shards And Dream Shards

Because Night Shards and Dream Shards can be found "everywhere," this means players won't have to spend lots of Dreamlight to unlock access to expensive new biomes to get Purified Night Shards in Dreamlight Valley. Both Night Shards and Dream Shards can be found in the game’s opening Peaceful Meadow and Village Plaza areas.

Before setting out to find the ingredients to craft Purified Night Shards in Dreamlight Valley, players might want to increase their inventory space with some extra slots using Star Coins, as the drop rate on Dream Shards is fairly low. Dream Shards can be found in all biomes from three main sources:

Digging up glowing mounds in the ground.

Using magic to remove Night Thorns.

Feeding the valley’s critters their favorite foods.

While Dream Shards in Dreamlight Valley can spawn when players use their special magic to clear up Night Thorns, the drop rate for actually getting Dream Shards from doing this is quite low.

Because of the low drop rate of Dream Shards, players will likely come across other useful items or even extra Night Shards while trying to get all the crafting ingredients for Purified Night Shards in Dreamlight Valley. Don't throw these extras away, though! Players should find a place to store them for future crafting needs or for other Dreamlight Valley Friendship quests.

Getting Purified Night Shards In Dreamlight Valley

New Night Thorns will spawn every day, so players always have the chance to grab more Dream Shards if they wait around long enough. However, this is fairly inefficient. Similarly, feeding Dreamlight Valley animals their favorite foods will net players some rewards, but Dream Shards aren’t guaranteed drops.

The best approach to obtain enough items to get Purified Dream Shards in Dreamlight Valley is for players to dig up all the glowing mounds which spawn throughout the valley. Unfortunately, these mounds are also the only source of Night Shards in Dreamlight Valley, so players digging them up will effectively be looking for both ingredients at the same time. Luckily, Night Shards have a higher drop rate, so you will likely end up with more than you need.

Crafting A Purified Night Shard In Dreamlight Valley

Disney Dreamlight Valley Player Crafting Purified Night Shard At Crafting Station

Once players have collected enough ingredients (at least 5 Night Shards and 1 Dream Shard) they should head to the nearest crafting station in Dreamlight Valley to turn them into a Purified Night Shard. Many Friendship Requests ask players for multiple Purified Night Shards, so to save on backtracking make sure you are doing the mental math on how many Night Shards and Dream Shards need to be obtained (20 Night Shards and 4 Dream Shards will make 4 of Dreamlight Valley's Purified Night Shards, for instance).

Unless players have already altered the location and look of their island drastically, crafting stations in Dreamlight Valley can be found at:

There is a crafting bench next to Goofy's house.

There is a crafting bench inside Scrooge's Store.

Players are given a crafting bench by Scrooge that can be placed anywhere.

It's worth noting that players shouldn’t craft more Purified Night Shards than they need to, as their sell value is low, and Dream Shards are hard to find in Dreamlight Valley. Dream Shards are also used to craft Dreamlight, an extremely valuable resource everyone in Disney Dreamlight Valley needs to unlock new biomes and progress the story. Because of this, players should only craft as much Purified Dream Shards in Dreamlight Valley as they currently need.
