Prolonged Engagement is a Legendary Submachine Gun in Destiny 2 that was introduced in Season of the Seraph. The weapon is Stasis and comes with a Lightweight Frame, meaning it has superb handling. Guardians also move faster while the gun is equipped. Prolonged Engagement has 900 RPM, making the weapon a fantastic option for adding clear. Players that wish to earn this Stasis SMG will need to farm Vanguard playlists.
The Prolonged Engagement is a Vanguard weapon in Destiny 2 and can not be earned through any other method. Guardians cannot craft the weapon and will need to obtain multiple copies to secure their desired God Roll.
Prolonged Engagement can come with 12 different Perks in both columns, which may cause frustration when searching for a single combination. Luckily, Guardians who reset their Vanguard rank will obtain weapons with more Perk options. In addition, further resets will increase the number of Traits available on the gun.
How To Earn The Prolonged Engagement (& God Rolls) In Destiny 2
Players can earn the Prolonged Engagement SMG as a drop in any Vanguard activity. This can be the Strike playlist, a Nightfall, or a Grandmaster Nightfall. Unfortunately, there is no guaranteed way to ensure that the Prolonged Engagement drops, but the weapon is a fairly common reward. Each week, one of the three ritual playlists in Destiny 2 will receive a double loot bonus. Guardians should look for this opportunity to obtain the Stasis SMG at twice the rate.

The first God Roll for Prolonged Engagement is curated for a Stasis build. The key Perk that players must have on their SMG is Headstone. This spawns a Stasis crystal at the target's location after a precision final blow. Outlaw pairs well with Headstone because precision kills significantly reduce reload time, preparing Guardians for more foes. Additionally, Smallbore increases range and stability, allowing for more accurate shots. Finally, Flared Magwell slightly increases stability while significantly increasing reload speed. While not necessary, this Magazine is helpful when players in Destiny 2 do not have the Outlaw buff.

The second God Roll for Prolonged Engagement is curated for a Melee build and close-quarters combat. Pugilist generates Melee energy upon weapon kills; in return, dealing Melee damage briefly increases the gun's stability. The new Perk, Offhand Strike, further boosts the stats of Prolonged Engagement upon final blows, granting range, stability, and accuracy when firing from the hip. Guardians with a Melee-focused build should not have trouble keeping the buffs from both Perks active.
Season of the Seraph has introduced many fantastic weapons into the game. Prolonged Engagement is just one of the many guns that Guardians will want to add to their arsenal. Players who are fans of the Funnelweb SMG in Destiny 2 will love this Stasis counterpart. Both weapons come with the Veist Stinger Origin Trait, which has a slight chance to reload the magazine when damaging an enemy. Additionally, this will increase movement speed while aiming down sights. Players interested in other Perk combinations for this SMG can view DeathFr0mAboveX's guide on YouTube. Finally, guardians should hurry and earn their desired God Roll for Prolonged Engagement, as the Season of the Seraph ends in Destiny 2 on February 28, 2023.
