In Digimon Survive, knowing how to get and evolve Digimon will allow players to obtain many types of digital monsters without wasting evolution items on duplicates. When a Digimon undergoes Digivolution, it undergoes a transformation that is often temporary, wherein the Digimon will revert to its previous form at the end of a battle. However, Digimon Survive has implemented this feature differently from other entries in the franchise, with the main story and befriended Digimon having different evolution methods and effects.
There are two ways to get Digimon in Digimon Survive, and how a digital monster is acquired will determine how it evolves. Additionally, there is a choice-based system in Digimon Survive that will impact the evolution forms of some Digimon, which means players will have to make conscious decisions to get some of the Digimon they desire. Some base forms of Digimon also have the same evolution as others, so players must be mindful of the actions they take in the game to avoid obtaining any duplicate digital monsters.
There are two ways to get digital monsters in Digimon Survive, playing through the story or befriending them through conversation. Any Digimon that becomes part of the team by playing through the story will always become an ally, forming a bond with their partner as the narrative continues. The Digimon obtained by befriending them in conversation are not guaranteed to become part of the team, but rather by selecting specific answers in a conversation. For example, to get Gotsumon in Digimon Survive, players need to befriend them before they agree to join the team. Additionally, players must find friendly Digimon like Gotsumon throughout the story. Otherwise, they lose the opportunity to add them to the team.
How To Digivolve In Digimon Survial
The Digimon acquired throughout the story as part of the narrative will continue to form a strong bond with players. When the partner-to-partner bond is strong enough, these Digimon will be able to Digivolve into a new evolution. The first Digivolved Digimon takes place at the end of Part 1 after Agumon has undergone its transformation for the first time.
Following the end of Part 1, players gain the ability to evolve any Digimon they befriend throughout the rest of the story. However, Digivolving a befriended digital monster in a free battle can only occur if players find Mature Enlightenment Slabs and other evolution items. Furthermore, digital monsters like Biyomon in Digimon Survive can potentially Digivolve into the same forms as the main story characters, so it's a good idea to use evolution items wisely because these characters won't revert back to their base form.
