Asher was a divisive character. While same fans loved him, others couldn't stand him. His death on How to Get Away with Murder allowed time for his character to self-reflect, asking for forgiveness for some of his wrong-doings. Of all the deaths on the show, Asher's was given the most time. The show provided an opportunity for fans to cope with his death and grieve.

However, just because Asher asks for forgiveness doesn't mean his wrong-doings should be forgotten. Over the 6 seasons of How To Get Away With Murder, he made several decisions that were not the best.  Here are the 10 worst things Asher did.

Not Respecting Michaela's Wishes

Michaela and Asher had a complex relationship. Though they started off as friends, their relationship eventually evolved into something more. Like many other romantic relationships in the show, this relationship was on-again and off-again.

There were several occasions where Michaela made it clear that she was not interested in getting back together with him, yet Asher was relentless. He continuously pursued her even when she asked for space.

Sexist Remarks

While this certainly improved over time, these comments can't be ignored. In the episode where Asher is first introduced, he is listening to testimony from one of Annalise's clients. This client appears distraught as she tells the story of her relationship with her boss, which includes an affair. One of the first speaking lines Asher has in the series is in response to this.  He mocks her saying, "I have a feeling she's always been that girl."

Making the choice to have this be one of the first lines Asher utters displays his mindset at the beginning of the series. Some of his other questionable comments include "I see you nerdy girl who probably still looks hot naked" and telling Frank they can be "eskimo brothers." There is also his rant about how he is a "nice guy" and deserves to be loved - although he does catch himself making this comment.

Homophobic Remarks

In addition to his sexist remarks, Asher has made a number of homophobic remarks. While some of these comments are made due to his ignorance and somewhat sheltered life-style, that is no excuse.

These comments include calling Oliver and Connor his "bromos," saying that Connor knows all about the "backdoor," and his general reactions to the amount of sex Connor has. In Asher's goodbye video, he basically admits that he was homophobic but that Connor changed his perceptions of gay people.

Microagressions

Asher has also expressed prejudices when it comes to cultures different than his own. Some of these are in the form of stereotypical impersonations, such as his "Italian mobster' accent when discussing a new client or his "Gustav" character.

In the beginning of the series, Asher says that Wes is probably Annalise's secret child.  Michaela calls him out for this comment, responding "Because all black people are related." And, of course, there is his cringy rap music video "Bye Felicia."

Fist Fight With Gabriel

Asher's feelings for Michaela have caused him to do some pretty stupid things.

The highlight of this is his fight with Gabriel at the courthouse. While Gabriel was the one who threw the first punch, Asher was antagonizing him and escalated the fight by tackling Gabriel to the ground. Michaela is not a prize to be won, and fist fighting in a courthouse after a trial is a terrible idea.

Blaming Annalise For His Father's Suicide

Asher's father, William Millstone, took his own life due to information about his corrupt ways leaking to the press. While everyone handles grief in different ways, Asher decided to take his anger out on Annalise. He went so far as to knock on her door and demand she pay his tuition because his family cut him off.

Asher needs to learn to take some responsibility for his own actions and that is exactly what Annalise tells him. Even the actor who plays Asher, Matt McGorry has called out Asher for his arrogance. There are several interviews where McGorry, an activist in real life, mentions that he recognizes Asher is extremely privileged and can be a douchebag.

Sleeping With Connor's Mom

Asher often seems to put his sexual desires at the forefront of his decision making. He rarely stops to consider the way these actions will impact those around him. He continues this trend when he pursues a sexual relationship with Pam, the mother of one of his close friends.

It is particularly selfish to engage in this behavior during Connor and Oliver's wedding, which is where his friends first learn of their rendezvous.

Killing Emily Sinclair

Emily Sinclair and Asher did not have the best relationship. She tried to blackmail him for information about Annalise. When Asher refused to work with her, she leaked information about his father's shady past. This information is the information that led Asher's father to kill himself.

While Asher was dealing with the death of his father, Emily Sinclair chose to speak poorly of his father to Asher. This was a fatal mistake for Sinclair as Asher ran her over with his car in his anger. This moment was a defining moment for Asher, who had not been involved in any of the murders on the show prior to this incident.

Informing for The FBI

Asher was always trying to convince his peers to go to the police, so it wasn't surprising when he was revealed as the mole on How to Get Away with Murder.

Still, this betrayal was upsetting to the characters after everything they had done for him. Turning his back on the people who helped him after his brutal murder of Emily Sinclair to make a deal for himself is cruel. Especially because Asher went out of his way to act as a spy for the FBI, trying to trick his "friends" into making incriminating statements so he could feed that information to his handler.

Trotter Lake Incident

In season 2 of How to Get Away with Murder, it is revealed that Asher allowed his father to cover up an incident that happened at his house while he was filming a music video with some friends. A woman at the party named Tiffany was gang-raped. Instead of comforting Tiffany when Asher saw her leaving the party crying, he worried about himself.

This led him to share this fear with his father, who then worked to cover up what happened. Asher deciding to protect his own image and keep Tiffany from getting the justice she deserved was by far the worst thing Asher has ever done.
